Re: How about some pics of 47-59

What's going on Kabwe?? That truck is looking good. I registered on this site a long time ago but just wasnt active on it during my truck build. I just bought a 1953 chevy truck so I was out hunting information and made it back here. Man your craftsmanship is still top notch. I was checking out you build thread and as we said before great minds think alike haha. I'm loving the mods. Be carefull on those light with the led turn signal in them. I haven't been happy with them overall. They are all plastic and the blink mode isn't very much brighter then the daytime running light mode. I have that disconnected so they. Basicallygo from off to on when blinking. The light spread is also uneven from left to right. I bought new $50 replacement bulbs and same result just brighter. I'm think maybe some poor craftsmanship in the plastic lens. Anyway we couldgo on for days. Take care and keep the cutter and welder going strong.

I'll see if i can dig up some old pics of the back half. I'll tell you though if i had to do it all over again I'd follow Kabwe's lead on the frame mods. I have a very similar C notch as he shows on his build thread. My truck already had a bad sub frame hack job when I bought it so i just cut it off and corrected the issues before welding it back on. The front wasnt low enough for me so I cut the bottom of the spring pockets out and extended them lower. When it is laid out it, the lower A frame touches the frame minus a very thin bump stop. I used slam specialities RE8 bags up front. I bought the shorter (I believe 54 inch end to end) s10 disc brake rearend including the leaf springs. I fabricated some brackets to mount the leafs to the frame. RE6 bags out back. Again a lot of man hours in that and the 4 link would have been much nicer and hours considered, cheaper.

Thank you BJCALDWE. They are American racing torque thrust II's. They were custom made with the backspacing that I wanted and chrome centers instead of polished. 18x8 in front and 20x10 rear. I know the back tires are 315/35/20. I believe the fronts are 235/45/18.

Thanks for the heads up on the lights. Do you think the one with the yellow lens may function better? I don't like the look as much. Maybe I will just go old school and stick my hand out the window I still remember my hand signals.lol

Anyway I love the mod and I will just have to live with it. It makes the truck look meaner.lol For every action there is a reaction ya know.

KABWE you already know we are on the same page. I love the mod and your nicer then me I wont even use the hand signals.

JJJMM56

BLITZD good to bump into you like this. I dont have any pics of the bags. I can tell you that I flattened the bottom of the frame where the spring sits. I couldnt see cutting the side of the frame out to make room for the bags.(They do the late 60s and 70 models trucks like this) My though was if I ruin an A frame I can get another one of those for next to nothing. Maybe we can arrange something and meet in person so you can check it out. no secrets here, I'll share and help with what I can.

Heres one for you KABWE. The TWINS are out.

I can't wait for my twins to come out. Now I have both of them in the hospital. But the 55 Sedan should be ready for summer. The truck is another story.
Well here's a pic before I put her back in the hospital for minor surgery. Sorry truck guys, now back to trucks

Thanks For the info. I have a 4-link w/air and c-notched frame. Originally I wasn't sure if it would allow me to go as low as I wanted. But from the sounds of yours, it will be just right.

Yes your going to be good with the 4 link. I did have to notch one of the frame supports so the driveshaft wouldn't rub it. It's the one right behind the cab. The front is a little tricky just depending on how you did your subframe. It will work out.

Eddie just want to say that you could not find a more perfect truck than yours. My big struggle is picking a color, and I put black out of my mind awhile back but seeing yours has me rethinking it. You have any inside shots? Would love to see them, and welcome to the family

Re: How about some pics of 47-59

jjjmm56 thank you for the compliment and welcoming me to the forum. It has been a rocky road but all of the hard work and late nights are finally coming together. The interior is one of the sections that I have not completed yet, and you just reminded me that I need to get the camera out and take some new pics of it. These are old pics and I've redone some of this work over the last few months, but you can get the idea.

Here is a pic of the bed it is covered with the same material as the seats. This is where I haul all of the cement, glass, dirt, etc...

Re: How about some pics of 47-59

I just wanted to make a correction for those of you that asked for wheel spacing and tire details. A member asked for more detail and turns out my memory was a little off.

I pulled my invoice to check the backspacing for you and I was wrong on the width. it is a 18x7 with 3.75 backspacing(235/40/18 tire) up front and a 20x10 with 3 inch backspacing for the rear(315/35/20 tire). Time flies when your having fun, the invoice is dated 5/24/2006
