Looks good. Sorry the 292 isn't working out with all the time you put into making the tranny work with it...

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...
You ain't the only one...I would love to take this basket of troubles off your hands too.
Sorry to hear about all the hassle with the "simple" tranny swap. I assume you figured out how to mount the new flexplate with dowel situation. I have never owned one of those straight sixes so I really don't know anything about them. I definetly like the LS idea. Big blocks are cool too. |

The new dowels are .030" bigger than the holes in the flexplate. They are suppose to be installed with a .003" interference fit ,in the crank. The correct way is to bolt the flexplate to the crank and drill and hone the holes. Then press the dowels in the crank. I have "Leo Santucci" Chevrolet Inline Six-Cylinder book. He swears you don't need them at all,... in an automatic equipped truck. (even in auto equipped drag vehicles). I have the new flexplate indexed on 1 dowel like any SBC or BBC. I've wasted enough time on this truck,... for now. I can move it and drive it. I'm just not going to replace the windshield or exhaust,... untill I have a new plan. I really like this truck, for some reason. Even with the 3" drop springs (that everyone hates),... it rides and drives great to me.

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...
Keith's tried to make things right on this and it has fought him every step of the way. Can't wait to see it on the road, but sometimes it's good to take a step back, reconfigure and start on it again. NO LIFE is a killer project and will have it's time under the knife again. Who knows what's to come.
Thanks a TON for everything today Keith.

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...
After selling my ride i wish i had something to play with! your truck looks sweet and if i lived down the street i would love to help out and get my hands dirty. Keith take it from a guy who has no toy, enjoy what you have even if your not 100% happy with it. You have what it takes to make it a 100%, maybe not the money but the heart so keep at it and it will pay off. I know you know that, but sometimes it's nice to have others say it.

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...
Thanks for the input.
I like the big block idea also. But I've got to make some more progress on Ginger. I'd like to be driving it next year, Today I decided to do a "quick job" that I have been putting off for ever. About 3-4 years ago I bought a '72 Big Block/th400 truck for parts. The previous owner had some neighbor kids shoot out the windows,... many year before I got it. It's been tarped ever since. I aquired some used window glass from fellow board member 72BlckButy, (thanks Nate). This quick job took a little longer than I thought. Both the donor truck and my truck had just about every bolt rusted solid. All 4 window regulators were junk. My impact screwdriver and cut-off wheel got the job done. No more NO-LIFE updates for a while.

It's really pretty beat up.
About every panel is dented up. The bed is junk. I've robbed a few good parts already. Posted via Mobile Device

Also the correct backspace would be needed to allow them to turn,... since you don't have bags to raise the front. Contact board member/ board vendor way2lo2. He sells lowering blocks. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=454824

Re: Project: NO-LIFE,...
I wouldn't run a 2" drop block with 15" wheels.
Too close to having scrubline issues now, with the 1.5" drop blocks . If you had 20" wheels it would be ok. The front a-arms are only 2.5" from the ground now. This is why a Dropmember is so nice. You automatically get 3" of free ground clearance, before you add drop spindles, bags or coilover shocks. The front oem crossmember/a-arm assembly is the worst thing about lowering the 63-87 trucks.
