Re: Die-cast 67-72

I kinda like how Hot Wheels are still toys made to be played with and we just collect them.Others may be more accurate and realistic, but these are just cool toys for under a buck.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

Here is my die-cast collection from NASCAR, started about 1999 or so, cant afford them now with the truck, my wife said one or the other....lol, this is about a 1/4 of the stuff I have, were living in the in-laws rec-room, which serves as our bedroom and a place to go, just moved back from Alberta. Ill have to take more pics, cause now there are new truck parts in here, guaranteed not to get ding or anything...lol

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I started posting some pics of the toys, diecast etc. here on the board. I will keep adding them for a reference to what is available. I have more pics, but need some time to get them posted. It may be helpful. I'll get the jadas, and johnny lightnings, von dutch, and other metal ones, then I can add the plastic models and blazers, etc. It's kind of cool because if you click on the picture I have some notes on each one, which I think can be edited.

Let me know if the link doesn't work.

That tire is actually from a Dale Earnhardt car, it come with a certificate stating this, I purchased it in 2000 for 250.00 CDN, back then our dollar was worth about 60 cents to your dollar. I ordered it from the Nascar Illustrated magazine in the classified section.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I added a bunch more pictures to the gallery. Figure about 75 total trucks to collect, not including plastic models, which I am starting to get pics together of. If I am missing anything, please let me know and if you have a picture of it, post here and I'll add it to the gallery. The only ones I know I don't have posted are other versions of the Danbury Mint trucks and the various colors of the 1/24 scale jada dub city trucks, and possibly some more spec cast versions of the 67 chevy truck.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

$40 is too steep for my blood.

I was able to score a HW five pack with the purple/69 tampo and one with the yellow/flames. My list is getting shorter. Unfortunately, somewhere I picked up this idea that I had to have two of everything - one open & one packaged (damn you Robert ).

We don't have a toys-r-us here anymore, it closed over a year ago. I've checked all the other local stores.

I got one this morning. I didn't realize they were Toys-R-Us exclusives. I wish they came single packaged, I guess I will give the rest of the slamfest toy to some kid. I also found another Coca Cola Blazer.

I have not seen that one yet. He states that it is not custom. I think he probably gets his from the factory. I wonder if they are coming out with that in a couple months?

Re: Die-cast 67-72

Hey,did you get that at a store?I never saw this before and just bought one off ebay that came about an hour ago.I asked the seller and he said it had`98 for a date and I thought it just got by me.But,the box is designed like the`57 Cameo that isn`t that old.I got it w/shipping for what it would cost at a store.I was the only bidder.I figured between the "Rides" one and the blue & white one that`s out right now that this was earlier.Maybe I saw it before and just forgot.I know they brought the kit back about 15 years ago with an ochre & white one on the box.
Anyway,I came on to show a picture of my truck kits on display.I have a `72 MPC Long Step w/dirt bike kit I can`t find that I want on the top shelf where this red `72 is.

And,I opened the box and found this I started and abandoned about 15 years ago.I saw one on Ebay and bought it once I saw I had started this one.Bfore the auction was over a sealed kit came up,so I bid and won that, too. When going through my kits to put these away I found I already had bought a second kit way back then so I could build this one...that makes 4!Then,the original kit came up and I had to have that.Hey,it`s the only shortbed they made.If I build them I can cover the 69-72 Chevys. There`s a resin short Fleet and a`67 conversion, too.I have the donors!!!

It`s got chrome car rallyes from a Camaro kit. They didn`t start making car rallyes for trucks until several years later.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I lucked into a silver JL Blazer at my Walmart.I was surprised.
Thanks Andy. There`s a`57 Cameo on Ebay with that same box art and it says it`s from`98 in the description.I guess I let it by me back then when I wasn`t looking.I`ve been a casual collector of kits. But,I`ve been onto them lately.I`m trying to make that shelf all GM trucks.Looking for that Open Road Camper,MPC`67 Fleetside,AMT`67,`68,`70,or any others I don`t have. You know how that collectin`goes...

Re: Die-cast 67-72

That Racer`s Wedge is a pride`n`joy. The kit`s molded in red, too.Just looks neat in there.I saw another on Ebay and it was molded in white.I geuss there may be some significance in that to nitty-gritty collectors.I bought 4-5 kits from a board member a couple years ago.He had more, but I was kinda short on money and it was in between two vacations (rare). He gave me a great package deal and even a payment plan.I didn`t send money the week between the vacations and he got pissed and cancelled the second batch. That Open Road camper was in there...oh well. The other vintage ones I bought this year.
I had bought others when I broke my foot in the`80s and couldn`t work or do much else.I rediscovered kits while christmas shopping for the kids.I saw all the old kits reissued and went nuts.I only built a few.People saw those and my son and I started getting kits as gifts for awhile. They`ve been stashed until recently.I still have others.I had that Hot Trucks trio kit and sold it this fall at a swap meet (before my display). It had a`55 Stepside,90-ish Sportside, and El Camino SS.Sold it cheap, too.Wasn`t selling anything else,so I sold some to another vendor.
If I wasn`t broke (again),I would have bid on this promo.Actually I did bid $100 max. when it was hovering in the 20s.I came back to it and someone bid over $200 and won.I would have been on it and outbid him,but $100 was even more than I should have spent at the time. This is the only one I`ve seen this color. It`ll always be a high dollar promo and only bring more money in the future...nice!
