I don't usually go to the beach but my kids like Stinson the most. But when you're going to Yosemite there's a town named Groveland. The Iron Doors Bar and Grill is a great lunch stop. It's very historic and great food too. Keep the pics coming, give me a holler if you're coming through Fairfield or Benicia. PM if you want my number.

PM sent. I am going to give the Iron doors a try. I looked it up and it sounds awesome. Thanks for the recommendation.

Re: 1970 One Owner Short Step

On Tuesday we left NM and headed to Hoover Dam/Vegas. If you visit Vegas you should make the drive to the dam it is pretty amazing. We stayed at the Monte Carlo. It is right in the middle of the strip and was a decent place. The casino was not amazing but it was clean and well staffed. This was my first trip to Vegas. I was not expecting to see so many slot machines/electronic poker machines vs real tables. It made me a little depressed that people prefer the electronic machines to actual tables. Our society is loosing that personal contact and is relying on electronics more and more. Anyway here are some fun pictures.

Re: 1970 One Owner Short Step

Sorry about the sideways pictures I can't get my phone to post them correctly. Here are a few more. While in Vegas we ate at the Peppermill restaurant. They had amazing food and have survived on the strip for 40+ years.

Re: 1970 One Owner Short Step

I ended up finding a good deal on a beach hotel at Pismo Beach. Pismo was great. It was not crowded and had a very friendly feel to it. Apparently they have the best clam chowder around at the Splash Cafe. When we arrived at 11:30 there was already a line out the door and around the corner. I am not a clam chowder expert but it was really good. We made it to San Francisco yesterday and met up with our friends who are attending Golden Gate Seminary. This is a picture from their campus. Apparently thier campus is going to move next year so they will be the last class to graduate here.

Also, I noticed what looks like a comfort grip wheel in the photos of the truck as purchased. Do you happen to still have it? I am looking for one for my next project.

I do. I'm not sure if we talked about this off the forum yet or not but I have it somewhere.

That is the same one in the first post of this build! It is one of the few things I was able to save besides the steel. It has a few cracks and missing pieces, but no one notices and I thought it would be fun to use it especially since it is a true 1970 inner! I will hopefully find some time this weekend for a full update, but between work and working on the truck, I have had very little time to get on the forum.

That's awesome you were able to save the original grill. I have been in search of a nice 70 grill forever.

Love the new pictures! thanks for sharing
