I'll tell you what, it may be an unorthodox way of trouble shooting, but I figured out that it had plenty of freeon. So it works.

Re: And so it begins................

Ok, my project is going to be on hold for a little while. I've got too many things to deal with right now and I shelled the gears in the outdrive for my boat Saturday.

Speaking of, if anyone knows where I can grab a mercruiser alpha1 v8 outdrive for cheap holler at me.

Re: And so it begins................

I don't know man, the cirumstances behind the failure on mine are a little sketchy and I'm kinda ticked about it but I'm stuck because I didn't open my mouth when I should have so now I'm just looking to find the cheapest possible way to fix it myself and move on. I've never even changed one out so I'm not sure I can do it. The boat is too old to spend much money on anything and I don't know values. Is it a pre 91 alpha1 unit? I think after 91 they went to the generation 2 units that won't interchange with mine. I also need a v8 unit with the 1.5 gears.

Re: And so it begins................

Since I've done the wheels/tires, exhaust, engine tune, tint, and almost complete new interior, I have found myself unable to park the truck long enough to do any other repairs or body work and since I primered the hood, I don't see anything from the driver's seat that motivates me to do anything else!!!

So now what? I have to blow a head gasket or something to force me to park it and continue?

The truck is just plain fun to drive. It's no wonder I see so many of them running around unfinished!! Look at Nuke's truck for pete's sake. He'll never get it painted now!!!!!!

Hey now, i will get it painted, you wait and see, we have 8 months of winter up here, so you never know, but you are right i am having just too much fun driving it, but on the flip side, once it is fully done, you will have much more fun with it, and be able to start a new project, i already have a few more in the fires, 3 to be exact, plus everyone elses that has to get done, wait a minute you may be right, i might never gbet mine painted, darn it, sounds like my wife, "will you ever get that done!" LOL.

Haha. That's great. That's what it's all about. Work on it and drive it. Enjoy it! Then work on it some more and drive it. As long as you are happy with it, who cares what it looks like or what is complete or not. Keep it up!

that is the best part of owning one is driving it and enjoying it. When you get tired of something you will tear it apart, we have no doubts about that.
