Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

My brother happened to be in town for the first time in quite a while. It was fortuitous, as we could use an extra set of hands to set the bed. Our cab and chassis days are behind us now...she's a pickup again.

They're not blue yet. Just hustling to get everything done that has to be done for exhaust to go on tomorrow. Eric is hoping to start spraying them while I'm babysitting our girl at the exhaust shop.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the looks and encouragement...our tails are dragging a little bit here at the end (well I shouldn't speak for Eric, but mine is). Hopefully some milestone moments in the week ahead.

Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

We loaded her up and I took her to Lord's Exhaust in Commerce, GA today. I went armed with the 4WD exhaust diagram and several pics of original exhaust trucks including a screen grab of the low mileage Super that was on My Classic Car.

Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

I couldn't find any OE exhaust hardware. The closest I could find to OE(and what I ordered) were these generic hangers and flat clamps. The clamps are from OPG and the hangers can be found from multiple sources online (I got mine from Del City). The clamps didn't get here until today so they haven't made their way on the truck yet. I got the hangers assuming we'd cut them to the correct length.

Steven at Lord's was great. He took my requests in stride and kindly worked hard to build an exhaust system as close as he could to factory spec.

Well we've got to finish this one first Jim, but... immediately following my brother's truck, Eric has a really nice '72 K5 owned by a local gentleman to do that I'll be an interested bystander on...then I've got a '70 K20 of my own I'm hoping to pull in...but then...I do have a friend with a super sweet '72 K10 burb that may be fun to have a go at if I could talk Eric (and my wife) into it...but who knows. Again one thing at a time. We gotta crank this one first...but thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

Fun pic to share. It's getting close to party time when the jewelry starts to go on. Eric slapped the tailgate on all by his lonesome and without a mark. She's still in the doghouse though while he finishes the cut and buff on the front fenders. Hopefully they'll get hung tomorrow. No bumper until the license plate holder gets shot argent. Eric is going to paint that along with some Rallys (somebody I know is hellbent on having a set of fresh Rallys as an alternative shoe choice. Hint: It's not me or Eric)

That is exciting! Seeing the body come back together and getting trimmed out is a huge payoff. As always, you're doing a fantastic job.

Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

well, who ever it is that likes the rally's, I agree! They bring alot of bling to the truck, just my opinion. But the choice Is done by the one who pays the bills.

This falls into the never ending topics of exhaust manifold gaskets or not, such as it is white wheels or argent rallys, but I don't want to open that can of worms, since you can't get the lid back on,lol

Great build so far, you guys have hit it outta the park, you've set the bar very high for the rest of us, thanks for a great build

You've got to be chompin at the bit, to drive this truck....
