Re: Crash's 72 K10
Didn’t do a whole lot today.. cleaned up the shop and started fitting the rocker and cab corner.
Next week I hope to start cutting out the rust above the windshield. Still need to cut out and install the high hump. Removed the u-joints and indexed the drive shafts. Still lots of work to do on the rust… Lots of grinding and sanding still to be done.

Re: Crash's 72 K10
The bolts that hold the high hump in, how are they mounted? do they have a nut or are they just screws that stick through to the under side? Sorry I have no 4x4 to reference for my build. Started with a 2wd and got a 4x4 long bed frame cut down to a short frame, so I am kinda building blind!

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Mark,
Where did you get the fuel hose that connects to your filter/regulator? A part number would be great if its not to much trouble... |

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Sorry for the dumb question...after closer inspection of your awsome pictures I relized you used a quick adapter and hose clamped the fuel line to them. I know it was months ago but still....GREAT JOB!! It looks so clean and wicked

I got it at o'reillys. I don't have a part number.. I asked for high pressure fuel injection fuel hose. I used regular fuel hose on the suction side of the pump. Hope this helps.

Re: Crash's 72 K10
35x12.50x15.. I would like to go to a larger rim, and a little smaller tire.. so these will soon be for sale..

Re: Crash's 72 K10
I had a few hours to work on the cab today. Started off by drilling and bolting the front pillar to the cab support.
Then I trimmed and welded the cab corner. Still need to clean up the welds.. Moved from there to a another rust spot.. I cut out a patch from the other cab. I still have some grinding and sanding to do.. but it is close. The metal is not blackened… it is just a weird reflection from the flash. As far as I know the only rust left is shown below.. None of it looks easy to do.. Tomorrow I may work on the u-joints, or continue on the rust..

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Work a little on the cab yesterday. Started by working on the rust above the windshield. Tilted the cab forward so that I would not have to work above my head
I did not take a picture, but I painted everything I could reach with por15 before I welded the patch in. I cut the patch from the old cab. Then I moved to the rust on the outside above the windshield. It turned out really nice. It was an awesome day.. I should have went fishing.. Then I stared on the rust under the dash of the cab.. I will finish it next weekend.. Hopefully next week I can start on filling in the holes in the firewall. It does look at lot better than it did before I started.. but there is still a lot of work to do.. I need to figure out how to fix this? I think I can cut out a patch from the old cab and fit it. We will see. I still need to patch the high hump and get it mounted. I need to sell or haul the old bumpers to the off. The front bumper is heavy, it would make a great bumper for a offroad truck.. the rear bumper is nice I think it fits a 73 and up chevy. I need to get the rear parking brake cables from somewhere. Does anyone have any ideas on a place to get some?

Re: Crash's 72 K10
I got my e-brake cables from rockauto.com.
Been reading theis build overthe past few days and just got caught up. Well done. You made the LS swap look easy. One mistake I made when I did my door bottoms was that I did not measure top to bottom first and I ended up having them tight for clearance to to bottom in the cab opening. The rocker postion should be checked for up and down position compared to the door also. I'm just getting started with the rockers on my Jimmy.

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Very nice work on the cab Mark! you have sure came a long ways in a short period of time. I like the repair around the windshield, inside and out. Keep pounding, you're just about there.

Re: Crash's 72 K10
Thanks Mike.. I still have a lot to do to the cab. I am thinking about doing the firewall like you did. I know it will take me a lot longer to do it then it did you, but I love the way yours looks.. Hopefully I can take some time off during spring break and get some of it done. Hope you got a lot done on yours today..

Re: Crash's 72 K10
I am having a pain fitting my cab corners. They dont line up well and the curve of the corner is to large. I have been trying to flex it and work it into the right shape but with no luck. I am beyond frusterated. It seems most of the panels that I have got from lmc truck are not fitting very well. The innner rockers and front pillar needed quite a bit of influence with body tools to make them fit. Where did you get your cab corners from?
