Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

I wish I could have made this bigger so y'all could see the issue i'm having, you may have to reference to another diagram on this thread. I just can't tell which holes they're going into and why there aren't as many wires on the other side.

Hey, BrutonLS1.

Here's a bigger diagram. If the Forum's jpeg format works. You can save in and make it larger without it "fuzzing up".
I'll likely tell/ask you what you already know.

The wires plugging into the fuse block are not matched one for one coming thru. There are elements in circuits that are "jumped"
together to be handled by a common fuse at the fuse block "train station".

I can't tell what specific wires you are asking about. But, since I've poured over every wire waaay too many times,
if you just hint at what your issue might be, I bet a bunch of folks will chime in.

I spent a while focusing on your diagram "circles". Then, I realized that you need to front some more info....I'll try to enlarge the specific areas you "highlight" in a minute and post them.

Can anyone explain what it means to have a 12, 18, or 21 circuit harness?

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

this is the amount of accesories you can power. if you have no things like electric fuel pumps or fans or ac, ele. windows or seats, you can get by with a 12 circuit. there are some 9 circuit kits from rebel or E-Z wire I prefer the E-Z kit but there about the same. the more stuff you have the more circuits you need .

That's the best explanation I could have asked for. What is the most common? I see a lot of 18's out there on the forums.

I went with 21 just to be future-proof. You don't have to use any circuits that you don't need.

most of the ones I've installed were 21 but get what fits your project and think ahead of what you might do in the future.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

Hello,
I'm in need of some help...
I have a "67 c10. I am neck deep in a wiring issue.
I have head lights, tail lights. Signal lights, and four way flashers.
However, when I turn on the headlights, signal right or left, the other side flashes between back-up lights and tail lights. I also have no horn?
I have replaced the signal light switch, hoping that was the issue. But....
I know the tail light sockets are rusty, it has a wood bed, and I'm not sure where to find the ground.
I can't download the wiring diagrams on my ipad.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

franciscocl7, What format is the original diagram in? I'd like to make up a custom diagram to follow for my truck. I have Visio and access to a computer with Illustrator (all of the apps from the current Adobe CSs actually) and Freehand. I also have friends who can convert most CAD formats to something I can modify (I've done that before, and.....well, it's better than starting from scratch--Sometimes).

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

Can anyone tell me the size of the wire they are? Like when it says 18 by the name on the diagram is that the size of the wire? If so 20g seems way to large. I'm wanting to rewire the entire truck with just wire (have some custom things I want to do) instead of buying a kit. I just cant find what gauge of wire I'm needing to buy and what gauge goes where. Thanks

The numbers are the wire size. 20 ga wire is actually pretty small.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

Hello All,

I have a 1970 cst10 that I seem to be having electrical issues in the dash cluster. Also missing lic plate and reverse lights.

Can some one please send me the full diagram so I can print to help try and solve this issue.

Thanks.

Re: Color Wiring Diagram FINISHED

CST10, it sounds like your problem is most likely the light switch. I know it seems unlikely but a lot of circuits run through it. If that's not the problem, your printed circuit may not be connecting to the harness connector well anymore--brittle, cracks, corrosion, whatever.

themikehyde, I haven't run across vacuum hose drawings yet, but there are very few vacuum items compared to most passenger cars. The 6 cyl wiring diagrams are on the first page.

Guys, you know what I found out? NONE of the GM diagrams that appear to be useful, show the cig lighter option and what color wire is "factory correct." I only realized a few weeks ago that the INSTALLED cig lighter, is NOT connected in standard/baseline vehicles--only with package upgrades!

I suck at reading wiring diagrams..

Ok guys, I really need your help on this one, because I am going around in circles.
in my 69 c10 I'm putting in a 12 circuit mini set from EZ wiring. everything is labelled, so far so good. But I need to connect it up to my excisting horn/direction connector, that would be that half moon shaped connector dangling underneath my steering column right?
If I try to read my wiring diagram, I have no clue whatsoever which wire ends up where. I'm trying to follow the wires through the diagram from the connector down to the horn and/or indicator lights..but I get lost at the fuse panel and at the blockhead connector.
So who can tell me which wire does what in the red squared box in the picture. you are also very welcome to tell me what an idiot I am if it's to easy to miss, but I just don't see it.

Re: I suck at reading wiring diagrams..

document is incomplete at best... i can land all wires except the ones that go off the page directly under the half moon connector

take colored pencils and literally trace each line in a different color...

Try this one.

and here's yours.

Name: Cab-1web.jpg

Size: 101.1 KB

Ignore the arrows

bottom to top.

White-brake switch.

Dark green -to right rear turn/brake light- goes to the connector in the firewall behind the distributor

Yellow- to left rear turn/brake light- goes to the connector in the firewall behind the distributor.

Purple - from fuse panel flasher to turn signal switch.

Brown- from fuse panel hazard flasher to turn signal switch

Dark blue- from turn signal switch to front right signal with a connector wire to the dash cluster for the right signal indicator light.

Light blue - from turn signal switch to left front signal light with a connector wire to the dash for the left turn indicator light.

The dark blue and light blue wires go from the connector through the firewall wiring block into the engine bay and through the harness to the left and right signal lights. The connector wires join them at the block on the inside of the cab or at the half moon connector.

Black- this is the horn relay ground wire from the steering column to the horn relay.

What else you got.
