Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

No fire tonight fellas. I did have time to wrap my harness and lengthen all the wires I needed to so I could route the harness where I wanted to. My girl was the best helper I could have asked for. She sat there all night and helped me solder and shrink wrap the whole thing! I am very impressed with the harness wrap. It's called F6 wrap if anyone wants to Google it. Heres the link to where I bought the stuff if anyone wants some. Here is the final product.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

I did get the F6 kit and added 6 feet of 2 inch to do the main section of the harness. I should have got 1 1/2" because the 2 inch was too big. I havent hooked up the trans cooler lines yet but I am actually thinking of just hooking them into the factory cooler on the radiator. I am not sure yet though.

Silly question, why would I have to use the vans reservoir? Didnt know if there was something I'm not thinking about. I am just using the factory 86 reservoir now.

On the new trucks, the reservoir is where the radiator cap is, and it is pressurized. Using the original '86 radiator, it might not be an issue. WWBD (what would Bob do)?

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build

The reservoir on the donor was not where the cap is and was not pressurized. Had the cap on the radiator. I will be using the stock radiator and overflow bottle from the 86.

TWID! The truck's original radiator, overflow tank, trans cooler lines to the original trans cooler, and the steam line to the radiator.

Mcbassin made a barbed adapter for me to run the steam hose to the heater hose nipple on the radiator. Works perfect!

The Jags That Run website sells a slick ventable machined piece that splices in to the upper radiator hose that the steam hose attaches to.

This isn't the one Mcbassin made, this was my first attempt, but it gives you the idea.
