Re: Daverods 52
Thanks Jeff. I did notice the back cap measurments should be 3.5 x 4. Nothing a cutting wheel could'nt handle. They worked great.

Re: Daverods 52
They are for relocating your shocks. But on our suspension you might not need them. It would depend on how much your going to drop it.

Re: Daverods 52
thanks Dennis. I'll have to take a better look tonight. Both the brackets and the wing nut lookin things are for the shocks?

Re: Daverods 52
the original shocks were inside the springs.
obviously they dont fit there when you put airsprings in their place. so the shock is relocated to the outside edge of the control arm. the long part goes onto the frame and the top of the shock bolts to it. im not postitive on the "wingnut wings", but they look kinda like the lower shock mount with bushings. i wouldnt be surprised if they fit inside the stock lower arm for bracing... you wouldnt use them in that case.. you also wouldnt use the lower cups. as far as the shock mounts, I would look carefully at both the shock clearing the frame under travel, and the tire clearing the shock when turned at lock. if you're running larger wheels, you may want to recess the shock into the frame slightly so you dont lose turning clearance. |

Re: Daverods 52
On these trucks the shocks are mounted outside of the springs.

Re: Daverods 52
oddly enough though, where the shock meets the LCA on that pic is very similar to how you would be mounting it to the S10 arm.

Re: Daverods 52
I'm thinking the wing nut things might weld on to the arms.

Re: Daverods 52
yeah it might just weld to it. what I've seen some people do is either bolt the stud or weld it to the lca.
You still not get your rear kit yet? I've been messing with my rear bars, but I'm need to know where the bag sits on yours. About to update pics of my truck.

Re: Daverods 52
I used to drill a hole in the lower arm, and weld a plate to reinforce where the bolt goes through. Even if the special shock bolt is welded in, it will crack the metal on the arm around the bolt.
BTW Thanks Dave. Why are you being so nice??? What do you want??

Re: Daverods 52
Couple hours a day, 4 to 6 on the weekends. I run into a lot of dead ends and stuff that I'm not sure about so I jump around a lot. Anything to stay away from the bodywork and sanding. I have been getting some more parts ready to paint though.

Re: Daverods 52
I heard this stuff works wonders. You need to eat the whole box to get started then about a half a box a day after that.

Maybe that's why the frame is about a 1/2 high.

The frames not on the ground. Well it will be when I put some weight on it. You can see it in the first picture.

Re: Daverods 52
That what I was figuring. And that's one of the reasons most people go with aftermarket A arms. Your ball joints are gonna be maxed out giving you trouble down the road. If you look at MMW's I got mine for $100 with new bushings. This would be the best way to go. And then you can get his A arm for your 66.
