I had to re-position the bed higher than the stock mounting location in order to lay out on the 22x12' wheels out back. Due to that change the fenders do not mate up with the dunning boards. To fix this we plan to section and extend the front of both rear fenders and build new splash aprons between the box and running board. Trucks by Spencer Wiedeman, on Flickr |

Re: Project: Patina (1949 Chevrolet 1434)
i read the thread. it looks amazing love your wheels. i wanted the steelies like that couldnt find them at a reasonable price. how much were they if you dont mind me asking. I have the rtxs how they look in pictures is exactly how they look in real life. I thought the tft was photo shopped. it was not.

Re: Project: Patina (1949 Chevrolet 1434)
Looking good. I plan to run 22's as well but probably not as wide in the rear due to the limitations of the Suburban body. Our engines will look a lot a like as well. I have all the Delmo goodies as well... I still need to figure out my coil mount similar to what you have done. With all of the LS aftermarket parts and accessories out on the market I'm surprised someone is not mass producing a solution.
Keep at it... Marc

Re: Project: Patina (1949 Chevrolet 1434)
Although not related, here are a few photos of my single cab dually. I bought this truck as a stock 2500HD SRW fleetside a couple years ago and converted it over to a dually. It has a 5/7 drop with 2' Spindles, 3' keys, 4-5' hangers and 3' shackles. The wheels are milled 24.5 semis with 295/35R24 tires. The most recent changes are the Denali front end and the 99-01 Chevrolet HD hood modified for the GMC headlights.

Re: Project: Patina (1949 Chevrolet 1434)
I'm sure all of you have heard that Accuair is now out of business and any and all replacement parts are either very difficult to come by or have seen price increases due to supply and demand.
I was a bit bummed when I heard the news - A while ago I sold all my air ride stuff except for my e-level system in anticipation of buying a couple 3 gal ENDO-CVTs so I'd have a nice compatible plug and play system. Yesterday a local shop received their last shipment of Accuair products and were offering some of them at discounted prices. I jumped on the opportunity. I already had my grey cerakote e-Level set up so I ended up buying a grey cerakote 5 Gal ENDO-VT. As we were talking he offered me a warrantied Raw 5 gallon ENDO-CVT on the cheap! I plan to swap the guts of the CVT into my VT so I can maintain the grey cerakote theme. Although this wasn't exactly what I wanted it will keep me moving in the same direction. I have my fingers crossed that I don't have any issues with it along the way. At least with both a CVT and VT I should have enough parts to keep everything working for quite some time. I'm actively searching for an e-level R10 ECU to have as a back up - just in case! |

Re: Project: Patina (1949 Chevrolet 1434)
Do you need special tooling to take apart the Accuair tanks or was that just Flo?

Re: Project: Patina (1949 Chevrolet 1434)
Just the flow tanks require the special tool to unscrew the tank ends. I also have one of those tanks on the shelf too... The Accuair tank ends come off with a series of allen head bolts.

Re: Project: Patina (1949 Chevrolet 1434)
I was worried about having the accuair endo on my truck now since accuair tanked. Hopefully someone will buy the company and continue making the products and support them in the future.

Re: Project: Patina (1949 Chevrolet 1434)
I have the RTX gauges in my 74 and love them. The ability to see the actual numbers via the little screen is so nice. They are so easy to setup via Bluetooth. The old ones I have used were such a pain to setup. I plan on getting them for my 53 sometime.
