Goodmorning Dave! Yes, I answered on the classic cars and tools blog, but yes, I've been having problems with my blog in receiving comments. There's a filter that went bonkers and blocked everything! Gary removed it, plus many members were reporting the same thing. I get between 25-85 hits a day on my blog, and do wish more folks would leave a comment, or just a smiley face would be nice to know it's working, So, Thank you for noticing and getting through.
I was out in the garage yesterday, and the guys from Two Stars Auto Glass did a fanstastic job, he was going to charge me 250,oo, but I gave him 350, and his two helpers 20 bucks a piece. I didn't think I was going to be able to salvage my truck and be stuck with a large boat anchor!

Well, after a seemingly neverending encounter with my windshield install, I can get back to serious progress! and my thanks goes out the people that stood by me on this site with help, advice, giving me enthusiasm to "never give up, never surrender!"

I have the transmission already in place; I'll use my little mule to lift it up into place after my engine is in, and hopefully my tranny crossmember will be ok.


I womanhandled my engine out of the back room into the garage where I can finish whatever I need to do to it. Oh, install the motor supports, need to go to ACE and get a pipe fitting for the oil pressure hole under the distributor, install the dipstick tube~ hmm, I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

You know, I've been utilizing the window opening for so long by being able to stick my head through the opening or crawling through it, I'm probably going to get a concusion by forgetting about having a windshield and bang my head! The glass is so perfect! With the new paint on the dash and a new windshield, I'll at least have a showcase dash/windshield!

I was really nervous! lifting the engine so high trusting that intake lifting plate, but it worked! Plus nervous about everything fitting, so the mock up engine really paid off! I don't know how I would have done it without it! The transmission cross member even fit(with a little effort). I'm done for the day, need to do more Christmas shopping! Gary asked when it will be running~ I told him two months.

Now I need to shop for a driveshaft.

Maybe if I found one "cheap", I'd think about it, but I honestly don't even know what a blower does. They look neat, maybe a fake blower!

Quite a while back I had ordered a great deal of parts from Brother's truck parts. They had a half off on particular things, including this gas tank. Regular it was close to 500, but got it for 250. I don't know if it's the best tank, but looks like it's going to be ok. I used my Little Mule II to lift it up to where it is in the picture. I've already drilled the holes and it's bolted up right now. There are several other fittings on the tank that I won't be using, I suppose one will be a vent, the one of the top? I also bought the gas sending switch from Brothers as well. The tank will be coming back down to clean up the area a bit. I guess today I'll be running the metal gas line, or whatever I decide to accomplish. ; )

That 350 looks real good in there. You really did a super job on the engine compartment. Hmmm I think I'll go take another look at mine...

I get a bit jealous of all the types of engines that people put in the trucks, but the 350 is tried and true and is a nice looking engine with all the pretty stuff you can bolt to it. My engine is nothing special, it's stock pretty much. I know I'll have regrets down the road when I wish I had spent a little more money on the engine, but for Gary and I, we just go to the Nifty50ee's and local events. I just need it to look nice! But if I've spurred your thinkin into doing special with YOUR truck~ I"m pleased that I've caught your interest! ; )

The AC sytem is installed, but I still have to fasten/support the AC lines under the fender. I have the brackets for that. So I hooked up my vacuum pump and the system is still holding.

Today I've been working on running wiring. The front and rear harnesses were pretty easy to thread (not hooked up yet), but running the wiring to the Alt, starter, I'm having difficulty where to introduce that loom into the engine compartment.

Well, I'm making a little progress since the holidays are past. The fuel system is in except for some little brackets to hold lines securely. Today I hooked up the heater hoses. I'm waiting for my electric fan from Classicparts, should be here soon! Then I can install my radiator! How exciting!

It's amazing how the little things can take so long! Like lacking a bolt, or needing a battery, trips to the auto parts/ ACE hardware, etc. OH, I did put the front bumper on, nice and new! Today I connected the battery, first checking things with my amp meter to make sure I wasn't going to burn my truck to the ground! Then cautiously touch the postive cable to the battery, no sparks! Then did the same with the ignition switch, turned it on, the fuel pump was humming! Then I turned the key~ The engine turned over!AWESOME! Maybe next week I can make the first attempt to CRANK IT UP BABY! I'll be videoing that for sure! Maybe invite family over and friends~ or not. I fear something bad might go wrong and wouldn't want anyone here to see me cry! ha! I still have wiring to finish, to the headlights, tail lights, etc. At least if it runs, I can move it, and that would be neato! I want so badly to clean my garage!

Hi Rick! Thank you for the compliment! I did get your comment on my Classic Cars and Tools! I really appreciate you taking the time to look about my blog; ) I try to keep it interesting and informative; a little variety for sure! I get most the hits on a Subaru Outback H6 in how to change the spark plugs!
Now you're in Tomball? do you go to the Nifty50ees? I can't wait for it to get started again! Maybe by March when it opens again, maybe I'll be driving my truck! I think this weekend, West Houston Muscle is doing something, it's in Katy.

I know I should be focusing on getting the engine running,but it's nice to get the larger bulky boxes out of my garage! but really nice to see a nice shiny bumper too! ; ) I've had this bumper in my garage for a long time, bought it from Brothers when they had a 1/2 off sale, that's when I bought 2500 bucks worth of stuff, that amazingly vanished in my garage, so when I needed it, the parts were no where to be found! not really, just seemed that way! It is generally misplaced out of my brain! Stuff during the course of this restomod has been located from my bedroom, the kitchen, spare bedroom, attic, inside the truck itself(bed), under stuff, and no where to be found!lol
I re-installed the seat (again) of course using My Little Mule (mini crane) ,cause there's no way I could get the seat in without it! I put the seat in to figure out where to put the gas pedal! I have been putting this off forever, and it's nice to see the seat in as well. The seat is a little wider than it should be, but I have a tiny butt anyway, so I don't really mind, but the seat is crazy comfortable! and my little 5 y/o grandaughter will fit right between me and PaPa, and she'll be able to watch Shaun the Sheep as we cruise!!
Now to go out and figure out how to get vacuum to the transmission and power booster~ ugh.
