Re: New member with a 1960
I was looking around at other 60-66 trucks this weekend online (day dreaming) and ran across a 66, LS swap, new engine, 4L80E, notched, bagged, nice interior, exterior is solid with new metal but needs paint, it includes a new front end that is not installed (which would allow you to drop it completely on the ground) it looks like it has a lot of nice parts and work done to it. I am really considering trading my 65 Olds 442 for it. I know I would be taking a loss financially as I have a TON of money in the 442 but...I've got truck fever right now... LOL

Re: New member with a 1960
Looks like my trade deal fell through on the Olds/C-10 trade ....
On another note we were having trouble finding a nice throttle cable bracket for the Apache build, so....Stephen at MDS Motorsports built one and handed it off to me for a little polishing, its been a while since I fired up the polisher......

Re: New member with a 1960
I wasn't really happy with the stock brake/throttle pedal configuration. The brake was WAY to far off of the floor, being 6'4 my knee would be in my chest trying to stop this thing! The Throttle and brake seemed to be way too close together also. We scrapped the stock throttle in favor of a Billet Specialties unit and got a matching brake pedal, the stock "arm for the brake pedal was used, we just modified it a little bit! I think it will work out great, the brake rod is not attached in the pic, once it is the pedal should sit muck closer to the floor, Stephen at MDS motorsports actually took measurements out of a new truck to have something to go buy, so the pedals should be configured more like a modern vehicle!

Re: New member with a 1960
Nice progress, that polished throttle body bracket looks amazing! I'm guessing it's stainless?

Just in my humble opinion, I would not do a project without it, it does provide a quieter cab, doors feel more solid when its applied, everything just sounds and feels more solid, quiet etc!

Re: New member with a 1960
I hope you guys are doing well!
We finally got the axles in from Strange, everything is wired and mocked up under the hood! AC is buttoned up, power windows finished..... SO today is the day it all comes back apart, its time to attempt to blend the repairs back into the patina, apply clear, paint everything under the hood for final assembly!

Re: New member with a 1960
Thanks Joe, It seemed a shame to have all that work into the engine and polishing things and leave the firewall wrinkled with holes for no purpose, so we deleted the delete panels, and all holes that weren't needed, smoothed it up a bit, etc, now we are working on the new inner fenders, making some adjustments etc. Getting ready to lay the base/clear gloss black to it!

Re: New member with a 1960
The work to smooth that firewall will just make the whole engine compartment look like care was taken during the build. I love the detail, great work.

Lookin good on the firewall, I just did mine and it totally was worth it. All of the little details will add up into an awesome truck eventually
