Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

Well the front is all buttoned up...The hardest part was pressing the stupid lower ball joints and having to wait one extra day for the springs.... Here are some picts of part of the process. We started to tear the back apart and hopefully it should all go on without any issues...Stay tuned..

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

The previous owner cut the front springs I posted a pict side by side with the new 1 1/2 lowering spring and you can see the difference...I know the truck is going to be alot nicer to drive as it wont ride like crap like it did with the cut springs...

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

Al, are you grinding down your bump stops, or on the a-arm itself? I'm not sure if you will run into any issues with wheel rub on the a-arms, or if they will bottom out.

The wheels are on but I have not driven it as it is pouring cats and dogs, I will have to check the clearance and see I dont think it will hit as I have 18's and not a huge backspace stay tuned...

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

The trailering arms from ECE are very nice..I must say..The back was done in about an hour and a half. Overall the truck went down 2 1/2 inches in the back and the fron went down another almost 2 inches. I know once I drive it for a few miles the suspension will settle and it should go down maybe 1/2 inch to 1 inch I am guessin...I am very happy with the end result and I am looking forward to driving it and feel the difference...

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

Well I drove the bucket around the block she definetly rides alot better in the front now the rear got alot harder than before I guess I was expecting a smoother ride all around but oh well....Here is my attempt to show before and after, keep in mind that my truck was already lowered from the PO with one coil cut in the front and five inch rear springs so the difference in picts I dont think is that noticeable like it is in person but I wanted to share with you all...
The first pict is from today the second is from before and the third is from today the fourth is from before and the fifth is from today.

Great looking truck. The lower stance complements the wheels.

I may have missed it in the thread, but what are the specs on those wheels and tires? Sizes/bksp/etc.

I must tell you that in this part of the build I helped very little as we are on month end mode and I have to close the month so my guys kicked butt like usual. All is left is we have to put it in the aligment rack tomorrow and send it to the detail dept. and pray for rain to stop so I can go to the tower shops (Weekly Cruise ) easily over 200 vehicles there every friday....

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

Looks great. It looked great before, but it really helped step up the overall look of the truck with the drop.

Well truck is on the aligment rack, of course the aligment is way off. My guys will get it to where it needs to be now all I need is the rain to stay away...

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

Thanks fellows!!!!

I had a bit of a scared today. We finished the aligment on the truck, took a couple of hours doing it perfect. I went out for a quick drive as we are busy than hell I stepped on the gas and smoked the tires down the back road next thing you know I hit the brakes and OH NO the damn truck almost ended in someones yard as it pulled so bad from the right front of course I turned as white as a ghost but got it to stop. I made a uturn and came back to the shop come to find out that the left caliper seized, mind you that we just took them off and lubricated them, well there goes another 80.00 for new calipers and new hoses. I am going to go with large rotors and four piston calipers but not yet as I was weighting my options between wilwood, baer or Mcgahuy (I think I spelled it right) which is the next investment.
