A stunning green, 1955 NAPCO Suburban just now went across the Mecum auction red carpet for $52,000 ... no sale, reserve not met.

I'll take the red T 150 fleet above. In love from the 270/4spd to the fleet option, the look, and fantastic condition!

Re: NAPCO Thread
update on one posted way back on post #34 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...6&postcount=34
my current boss purchased that truck after that listing ended on c-list . it was for say for much less on ebay were he got it . drove it all the way back from nj to upstate ny took a little bit . she got a quick check over and repaint to black and lettered up for work . she was used a hand full of times over the years but as we all know the 72-older trucks have massive rust out problems on the cabs at the drip channels . this old girl had the same problems and was no longer viable for repair on the cab . so she was more of a lawn ornament for a few years as a billboard in the lawn . then come along the new life blood for its major organs to live on . 1982 c-60 super clean and run great ..... after looking and measuring both it was a basic swap / bolt in deal . so game on we flipped/flopped parts and now the napco driveline axle's & transfer case live again . she has the Rockwell t223 t-case and napco axles with 7.20 gears and open diff's both . just a few pics . . . didn't post all the hard swap over pics as we know what that is . I even had re-pop stickers made for the dash from the orignals out of the old cab . figured some of you guys might like to know what happened to some of the old big 4x4 iron . enjoy

Re: NAPCO Thread
Its been a little while since i've posted about doing the 4x4 conversion instead of buying a napco. Since then i've done a lot of research. There is a lot of info out there if you look long enough. First off. There is a website that makes body mount braket conversion kits from 73-80 ish chevy truck chassis' to pretty much any 50's era truck. They are called ez swap. Still not sure what im doing wether its body swap on to a donor chassis or axle swap from the donor truck. Either way i am purchasing a 79 k30 roller this weekend. Solid chassis and axles. Looks to be 14 bolt rear and the guy said it was a dana 60 front but looks like the dana 44. Either way. Should be a good parts truck and a good start.

super fast way to spot a true k30 frame is no outside rear shocks to the frame . k30 frames have inner shocks on the rear to clear the springs being closer to the frame .

Re: NAPCO Thread
I let people know so they don't get sold a dana 44 for the price of a 60 . . . and then you find out later when parts don't fit.
pic 1 = king pin style knuckle of 60 pic 2 = 2 top plates held to axle for storage . but it shows the 2 bolts were the u-bolt would be on a non gm dana 60 front.

My new Napco
I just bought My first NAPCO. This is a 57' GMC. Pretty original minus paint and Oak bed. Original 347 with a good solid body that has little to no rust. It was last registered in 92' and has been sitting in a barn covered since. It runs, thanks to a somewhat anal retentive former owner who would start it every month or so just to keep it in good order. Never-the-less, there's a lot to go through and I'll definitely be having some questions (particularly regarding the front brakes) as I move through this and will thank you all in advance. The current focus is getting it 1200 miles to San Diego so that the fun can begin. Cheers! |

Re: NAPCO Thread
Ask me that question again next week. 20 inches of snow in the foothills outside Denver is hampering Barn access. Hope to have a transport there Monday or Tuesday. Good thing spring snow melts fast, bad thing is spring snow generally becomes spring mud. Might get to test the 4 wheel drive.
Cheers! |
