Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

MAN ! I like that .. a Whole lot ! Those wheels are not terribly expensive either.

That is definitely different and it fits the truck very well. It would sit just like the blue one, just maybe another .5 or 1" block in the back (?) But .. Wow.. Most definitely an option.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Sooo .. Do it?

I really like how the blue truck sits. I like the wheels, YES there are wheels I like more .. but it just doesn't make sense for this truck or my wallet. I feel like this wheel would fit the overall personality of the truck, my taste, budget, maintenance, etc. I still would polish them up from sitting outside .. but not like I would with Billets. If it rains, cool .. or a dog pees on them I'm not going to need bail money or anything.

I have the money ready. Should I get them? You don't see these as much as the C-5s and I like them just as much or possibly more really. I like the flat spokes too. They kinda remind me of my BSp on my 68.

I'm really, really close to calling them. Possibly today ..

Which c57 wheel?
Chrome, polished, or grey?

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

I agree with Shawn... Awesome wheel at a reasonable price. I would use "see 10's" wheel specs. They look great on his truck!

4/6 drop
Front: 20x8.5 backspacing 5" (et 6mm) , with 255/45
Rear: 20x10 backspacing 5.5" (et 0mm) , with 295/45

I'm sure others will chime in, but I say you already have the tires, so go for it!

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

7/10 drop - Full Air ride and PB drop front rear Xmembers, LS3 ?

(playin)

The polished ones Keith. What do you think? Your opinion matters too. All opinions welcome, good or bad. I think they kinda fit a mild patina truck well (?)

Would they fit the truck (the look, not the size) .. ? My trim is not super shiney, just original stuff .. I'm not really looking for bright shiney chrome, just a muted back more polished look. I still might hit them with the Power Ball and white flour trick before I mount them up.

I really like the Pchop Dad did. Pop, .. just to see, can you take out the gold from the spokes to just see what it looks like in Polished?

Here you go... no gold in the spokes. Definately the polished version, not chrome IMO.

You need to get the wheel you like.
But since you asked,... I like the C5's better.
Cast polished wheels never really shine up to well, no matter how much you polish them.
For the same money,... I would do the C5's. (my opinon)

The next step up in pricing, would be Salt Flats from American Racing.
You need to be happy with your choice.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Do you know of any places to get better pricing on the Salt Flats? $569 a wheel at Summit. I just can't do that much on a driver.

I really like them too, just saving the big $ for the 68. I can't fully pimp both of them right now.

Grey centers:
http://www.newstalgiawheel.com/wheel...ubcat3=1011106

Polished centers:
http://www.newstalgiawheel.com/wheel...ubcat3=1011107

They come in 20x8 and 20x9.5's.
$492 each.

Wheels make or break a truck.
Suspension drop and wheels get the most bang for the $$$ spent.

I think the polished c57 wheel would look good. I've always liked the salt flats though. Any chance of a photoshop of the saltflats? May post a poll and let the members vote?

Any forum vendors that may be able to do a little better with Americans? $25 or $30 a wheel would help..

Sick man .. I'm sick at my stomach ..

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Keith -- NewStalgia wheel is about 10 min away from where I'm standing right now. the problem is, if I bought them there, I gotta pay tax. so, $2160 total. Yikes.

I can do the Coys for $1050 shipped directly from Coys. I like the Americans better too but it would double my price.

If I could come in around the $1500-$1700 mark, .. then Maybe .. But ?? I'm kinda doubting it. And I'd have to wait on them I'm sure. This was the $$ I was planning for Eric's wheels but that's not gonna work too well for me.

I don't know what to do. I like the C5s too, but they're everywhere. Of course, there's a reason for that too! They look great. I was just looking at the C57 to be different.

I think these two quotes sum it up. You really like the C57's, and they are in your budget. Every member on this board is going to have a different opinion, all based on their likes or dislikes. That's what make this such a great forum!

Quote:

I agree with Keith... to a point. Wheels are probably the most important statement about the truck and the builder. But, I absolutely love trucks with a great stance and steel wheels with dog dishes. Remember "Miss Daisy"? Your truck will reflect your personality in a lot of ways. However, it's the "look" you are going for. Plus, budget and you driving the truck more often than most.

I do agree totally with Keith on the drop, and wheels will play an important part in a 4/6.

That said, I would go with the C57's because that would free up $1100 to finance your drop and 5 lug axle change. Just an old man's 2¢...

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Good luck in your quest for wheels.
Like I said,... wheels and stance are what are important to me.
I'd drive it with the worn interior and original bed,... if that's what it took to get the wheels I wanted,... but that's me.

This is one of my favorite trucks here on the board.
(belongs to member gearys5600)
SUPER slick paint and extremely straight bodywork.
Amazing interior and overall attention to detail is some of the best I have seen.
But to me,... (again),... if it had been wearing a different set of wheels,... or the incorrect backspaced wheels,... that would have killed it for me.
The wheels on geary's truck made the total package.

I own a set of the now popular 20" Boss 338's.
I've had them since 2009.
Never mounted on a truck.
Super affordable,... but now I wish I had saved my money for a set I really wanted in the beginning.
I wish I hadn't gone the cheaper route.
Now my new wheels are worth less than I paid for them, so I will keep them and put them on one of my other trucks,... some day.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

I know what you guys are saying, i really do.. and i too agree with buying what you really want the first time. The things I am considering are what I want, what I can really afford and what makes sense to put on a truck I plan to drive.. it sits outside, etc.

Want - Budnik Chisel with the brushed face
What i can afford - less than 10k total in my driver.
What makes sense - low maintenance

Chrome Im afraid will be too shiney for the rest of the truck.

So, polished, less than about 1500 MAX, and different.

Im not ashamed to have 1700 in my Coys / Tires on my driver.. i have a perfect set of 5 lug rallys i could put on it for free. . Lots of guys would love to have 20s of any kind, regardless of price.

You guys just have more money than I do..

Thanks for your help

Pretty strong option guys .. I really like them personally. For $950 for all 4 (?)

I'm headed to Charlotte in the morning with a pocket full of cash .. we'll see what happens. IF nothing shows up there, I'll probably get these on Monday.

I think they would look great! And.... if they fit your budget it's all good. I had to dial back my spending on my project and wheel/tire combo yanks 2 grand pretty quick. I got the streeters today and toyo's should be at the shop on tuesday.
Have fun at Charlotte.
