Re: Senior Project Build
I would love some help, I was hoping to spend around $600, there is a guy selling a complete drivetrain on craigslist, I have been trying to get him to seperate the motor from the rest of it. I am looking for one right a way.

Re: Senior Project Build
If you can score that engine from that guy for 600 that would be rad. Keep on him. That's a steal of a deal. I found a short block set up with aftermarket internals for a $1000

Re: Senior Project Build
Buy the whole thing, and sell off the trans. I payed 750 for my 350/TH350. If your finding a newer motor and trans for 600, that's a steal.

Re: Senior Project Build
Apparently we have a place around here that sells them from $500 up...trans included. Might have to check into that for the stepside.

Re: Senior Project Build
Here are some pics of the days activities....
I got the motor pulled, a guy is coming tomorrow afternoon to pick it up. I am keeping the TH400, it is fresh and I will use it with my new motor. I had some help from a friend, it was very appreciated. The temp was 31 degrees here today, made the concrete floor in the garage very cold. |

Re: Senior Project Build
Thanks C10 KID, I have called Foster auto several times, and the cheapest they go without having over 120k on them is like 750-800 bucks. I am holding out for something cheaper. And that yard is probably flooded now, I saw a pic in the Oregonian showing all the employees riding down foster on the wheel loader through several feet of water.

Re: Senior Project Build
I started degreasing the engine bay today. It was too cold to do much. Fortunately it was still pretty clean from the first time I had the motor out. Just needs a bit more scrubbin and some semi gloss back paint.
This was a mark left by the rear tire. The rubber is very soft and just sitting for a day it left this patch on the concrete. I need to keep the weight off, so I have it up on jack stands in the rear. And has anyone ever thought of drilling a hole here in the front crossmember to let water drain? Every time I wash out the bay water collects here and has to be soaked up with towels. Last edited by LuckyHenriksen; 01-05-2009 at 10:45 PM. |

Re: Senior Project Build
Thanks guys, the bay is getting cleaner. And I didn't think drilling a hole was a very good idea, because someone would have done that along time ago...... I just wanted to ask opinions
I will just have to keep the towels. Handy =] |

Re: Senior Project Build
You could drill it, and sleeve it with some round stock, if you wanted to go that far...

Re: Senior Project Build
Thanks guys. The sleeving idea sounds like a lot of work. Tonight I drained the fuel tank, and removed the seat, getting ready to pull out the gas tank. I didn't know there was as much fuel left in the tank as there was, my bucket overflowed =[ anyone have a good ideas on how to clean up fuel off the floor?
Needs a good cleaning!!! And I found these under the seat, some sort of speaker boxes. I have no idea what they are, a they weren't hooked up, but there is wire running to them under the carpet. Any ideas on what they are and what I can do with them? I don't want to put them back in, trying to cut weight Last edited by LuckyHenriksen; 01-06-2009 at 09:47 PM. |
