Like I mentioned before; sic! I cannot wait to see your big project all finished. If I could make it through the winters here without my 4x4 I would be really tempted to sell it and buy another '64-'66 to use as a driver (still might if I can find a way to get away with it). Awesome collection man!

Re: Irish's 1966 LWB Fleetside
A little update on what has been going on........
I finally got around to putting the newer cab back on the original 66. It took a bit of thinking and some physical lifting but I got it on all by myself. The Green 64 had a cracked exhaust manifold which was making it very loud and annoying to drive, so I switched that out and it runs alot better. I also adjusted the timing on both the 64 and 66. The 66 distributor bracket snapped from old age (It was the spring looking type), and timing slipped to where the truck would die at idle, so that was changed and the timing adjusted. I also decided it was too quiet, so I added a Thrush Glasspack to it and it sounds alot better. We have been working on getting both trucks running really nice and fixed up some cosmetic stuff also. The steelies on the 66 are in the process of being sandblasted and re-done. The 64 is about to get some sounds (audio) added, as it never had a radio from the factory. I am gonna search the forum for ideas on that one. I was thinking about the USA type head unit, but the speaker locations are what I am worried about. Pics to follow, when I find the chord for my ph. lol

The green '64 is my favorite of the two you've recently picked up. Whatever gave you the idea to spray on such a wild color?

Re: Irish's 1966 LWB Fleetside
I just stumbled across this thread, great job on the trucks (all three of them!?!) Talk about dedication! By the way, what brand and kind of paint are you using? Is it sprayed out of a rattle can or out of a spray gun? What ever it is it looks good.

Funny story on that one Frizzle. Took it home at lunch and had a small scare. The lowered shock position had rubbed a hole in the brake line. I felt the brakes get a little spongey on the way home so I left her there and took the Dodge back to work. Lucky I did because when I went to move it the next morning there was no brake pedal. Forgot to tell Ol_Skool and he went to take her for a spin and almost crapped his pants when he got to the stop sign at the end of the street. So, there was some new fabrication on the upper shock mount and new lines installed on the affected side. Now all I need is to get the dang exhaust up off the floor. No speedbumps allowed until then. BTW, u goin to beaches tonight?

Re: Irish's 1966 LWB Fleetside
I have to admit, I have a hard time imagining a whole truck painted with any colour, but Ol_SKool swore it would look cool, so we went with it as a test and man was I suprised. I just RC'd for now. There was no bodywork needed on the 64, so rather than spending months making her super pretty, i went with that option for now. SHe will be stripped, scrubbed and painted properly over the winter. For now it's our motto for these rigs....."Slam it, Paint it and Cruise it"

Re: Irish's 1966 LWB Fleetside
Nice work on the Green Machine! I drove the '66 the other day and I can't believe how sweet it runs. I should have charged you more $$$!!!!! Kelly helped get me started with some body patch work using fiberglass on the rockers and trim holes. I need to invite you guys to a sanding party!

Re: Irish's 1966 LWB Fleetside
I can't remember exactly how many i cut. On the stock 15's it sits at about 24" from the floor to the wheel arch. I will check it all when I go home this evening and let u know exactly.

Re: Irish's 1966 LWB Fleetside
Well, it has been a while since I have been on here on my build. It's about time for some good news. I will be the proud owner of a 65 Shortwide this coming Friday. I agreed to buy it today. It's a 350/350 with power steering, posi rear end, majority of the major bodywork completed. Nice enough interior, that will need some work, but is not rusted out, that i could see. The P/O was delighted it was going to a good home. So technically I am the prod owner of all three years 64,65 and 66 trucks. LOL. I will post pics as soon as I can.

Re: Irish's 1966 LWB Fleetside
Wow Irish, good find. I really need to show my wife your thread, she threw me some really dirty looks when I told her about the '63 short step I am working on trying to buy. Hopefully she'll see your four (as well as the others on here with multiple trucks....) and agree that me owning two is not a bad thing, especially since this '63 is a driver. Congrats on the new truck Irish, can't wait to see how this one turns out after another one of your weekends. Here's to a collection of kool old trucks.
