It has 33/11.50s on it now...No rubbing but the P.O. cut the fender cups out..One more thing to fix.. Going to finish patching some holes in the body and shoot on some paint when it warms up..But it will still stay a trail truck

Hey dirtybird, I have a '95 that looks similar to your '97. What kind of lift does your truck have, body or suspension - and what brand is it?

I just have 2" blocks from autozone/advanced auto. It's in one of the aisles as a 'lift kit' or something like that, just for the rear leaf springs. I then cranked my torsion bars. It looks 100 times better and I love it! It only costs like $35 for the blocks. I have more pics if you want to look. Let me know.

I'll get a pic of the cv angles soon. I never looked at them. Just assume they are good when you're a mechanic

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........

Good looking truck dirtybird1 - I had a 95 GMC Yukon that had a little tire rub so I cranked up the torsion bars to gain I'm guessing about 1 1/2" of lift - that ended up eating my lower ball joints after about 2 -3 years of driving so keep that in mind.

Here's a pic of the 95, but I'm sure that is before cranking the torsion bars.

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........

It's funny you say that Yukon. Earlier today a friend was checking out my front end and noticed that my driver-side ball joint was looking "weak". I've had mine cranked about an inch for the last 6 months or so, and I'm finally getting them aligned Thursday. I wonder if it's related.

By the way dirtybird, great additional pics. I may have to crank my TB's some more and toss some blocks under the back end now.

Re: Post "Your" 4x4 pic here..........

Thanks guys!!!! I get ALOT of compliments on it which I love cause there really isnt much done to it. Just some good parts choice I think. The 2-3 years of ball joints doesnt really bother me considering the truck gets 13 mpg so she only gets driven after work and on the weekends. So a tank lasts a week or two depending on where I go. I'll try and remember to get cv angles soon.

Oh yeah, dirty - did you replace your shocks when you did the "lift"? If so, did you get stock shocks or shocks for lifts?

I'll get them eventually. Been driving straight to my parents house in my Escort to work on my 84 and getting home after dark

I did not replace shocks. I dont take my truck off road as you can tell. I was going to go off roading, in the sand dunes Labor Day weekend but while we were just getting into it, we got a call the outhouse was on fire and had to go back to camp
SO. I dont think that they are going to be a problem off road.... I did notice some 'head bob' while towing a trailer unloaded, but that is rare so I can deal with that. Looks>small ride quality
