Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
UPDATES!!!!!!
So I have not been completely laying around doing nothing. Been busy getting things done so no worries i did not go run and hid somewhere. 2 weeks ago we went up to Lloydminster and met Cory and picked up the 468. it sure is sweet, Thanks Cory!!!! you do good work. Over the past couple weeks I have been getting the bodywork done to the car, usually I never show anyone my mud work but I will. There is not all that much on here, the two worst things were the trunklid and the front header panel, both of which I knew would be like this. Anyways here is some pics for all you ppl!!!!!

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
Some more pics. When I do mud work, in order to get it completely strait, you have to cover up the entire area, otherwise if you do strip by strip you will always get waves in your work, hence why there is so much on the the trunklid. do it once and done, actually two coats and it is done, the finished product as you can tell there is not much on the end product, you can see the metal through filler.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
Ok here is a trick for you guys, once you have everything lined up, why go through the hassle of trying to line it up once more after it is painted, so...... take a drill anddrill them through the areas that blot up, this helps tremendously, put a drill bit in the hole line it up and way we go, slight adjustment after this is needed. Also here is a couple pics of Graham's 70 Monte Carlo SS. very sweet car. Oh and luke, here is the pic of the truck we saw, so sweet of a ride.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
Nice work as always James, It looks very familiar to what I am doing on the 86. I thought I was using a bunch of mud but I guess that's normal to get it straight.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
I never knew it was "ok" or "normal" to use that much mud until TV shows like Overhaulin' and American Hot Rod where they showed a good bit of the prep and paint work. The body shop guys would just cover the entire panel and sand from there. Makes sense to me.
Looks great bud! My Bird is supposed to arrive tomorrow I wanted to follow my uncle down, but I had to leave NY on Sunday and he wanted to stay longer.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
Very cool! That is a very nice Monte too! We just got done doing the mud work on my corvette. Man am I glad I have a friend who has a body shop because I would be there for a long time sanding body filler. So far he has primed and blocked it 4 times. I hope it looks sweet when done.................... I haven't seen it since we laid down the first coat of primer and it didn't look so cool. LOL

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
Well, I went over there today and he hasn't done anything more than block the front and add some glazing putty to it. The way he told me everyday I talked to him was, "I'm sanding it getting ready to prime and re-block again." Uh, no. So he's supposed to have the front clip reprimed and I'm supposed to go over and we are going to do a final sand and remask it so he can shoot it tomorrow. Man I hope so, I need to get it put back together to go test the new turbo.

Re: 1969 Camaro "Yenko" Clone
Well, I have been busting my but the last 2 weeks and and almost got the shell done, I just have to put in on the roteiserrie now and finish the rockers, roll the wheel wells and finish the rear tailpan. However I managed to get the majority of the mud work finished and got the pedal assemblies in, guess what they are from. Ok I will tell, A Honda S-2000 that I dismanteled a couple of years ago. onto some pics.

I knew you had to have been doing something on this. It'll be in paint in no time. I wish I had the time to work on mine. My oldest graduates this month and the wife has a honey do list that is killing me right now.
