Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

well guys today was the day.it fired right up.you never know whats gonna happen when you buy a motor off craigslist.po said it was 450 horse.only a couple small issues.tranny lines leaking and 1 and 3 plug wires were swapped.bought a new temp gauge for my original cluster and its reading about 30 degrees to hot.(not sure why).even got to drive it around on some gravel roads.today was a killer day.chizzler

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

nice work.i bet it felt good to take it for a cruise.craiglist can be a scary thing when it comes to motors. mine was a craiglist 383 stroker motor with 450 horse and a 500 lift cam.i know for a fact its a stroker motor, but when i fired it up, the cam sounds stock. i should have checked the cam, crank and timing gears but they were already installed. looks like you beat me buy a couple days on being able to drive.if everything goes good i should have mine back from being wired on wednesday or thursda.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

the shifter handle looks awesome. i got a fiberglass rear bumper filler off of ebay, it came with some crapy fiberglass brackets. so i need to figure out a way to mount it. modifying a front filler to fit the back is a good very good idea and it would mount really easy. have you talked to steve the glass worker about your side glass. he has alot of solid glass templates and uses some really good quality rubber seals. steve installed mine but i already had the side glass. the install looks really nice and he is very affordable.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

my filler panel is a repop fiberglass. i would have gotten an original but like you i cant find one anywhere. a tint in the glass would be really cool.i bought some smoke tint side door glass for my 50 chevy truck from lmc and really liked it.

Great job on the burban , cant wait to be as far along as you are. I have the same set up from scotts and was wondering how much lift are you getting in the rear? Did you have to change anything?

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

total lift in the back is about 7".the only thing i need to change is to get longer shocks for the back to go to about 9".we welded the 4-link in place then welded in 1/2" bump stops then set up the upper bag mounts.chizzler
