Re: 56 pro touring build

Great job on the tail gate. I can vouch for the ebay seller WhiskeyV8. I bought a set of dimples from them. Sent them super fast & the quality is outstanding.

Ok, the more I look at builds like this one (http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=30561) the more screwed I become. More More More.

You can't let these high dollar builds get to you. We could all do it that way if gold nuggets were falling out of our bums.

Kim I agree with you 100% percent. I don't care what you build there will always be something you think is nicer no matter what level of build you are doing. My advice is to admire craftsmanship, but do you. If you worry about what others are doing you will never finish your truck. Just do you.

Plus you are doing your own work. I much rather look at a ride that a person built in his or her garage than look at a ride that was done by shop. Its suppose to be nice, they paid big money for the craftsmanship and expertise. Whats so amazing about that? I'm amazed when a shops work looks like it was done by an amateur. Oh yes I've seen a lot of that lately.

When I went to start my build, My Dad said "vision the truck done. And write down what you see". The only change I made was the 2010 Camaro rearend instead of a 9" ford with trail arms from a 60-66 chevy. I have the air bags and coilover shocks to prove it. If you don't do this, you will be Joe( a neighbor) he's going 9yrs. and 3 color changes and the motor is still on the engine stand. Don't be JOE!!

Re: 56 pro touring build

This is where this project is going from a stance point of view. Our will be more focused on performance and not so much the goodies like this one has. By the way, this black truck is for sale on ebay (1958). I know, it has four eyes, but I think that is is cool anyways.

Fesler Built. I saw this on their website a while back. They do some awesome work, but they're outta my price range.

Re: 56 pro touring build

Any new updates on this build? Love what you're doing and looks to be one of the first wild pro touring 56's i've ever seen! I'm new to this forum, but am building a 56 chevy truck myself. Unfortunately it is not pro touring but is on air ride and will be on layin' in the grass. Also it is on a 89 Dakota frame, hope to post a thread soon with some of the build pics.

Thanks

Thanks for inquiring. I think about it every day and even in my dreams. Unfortunately I just have not had any time to do anything in a while. Go into the garage and look at it for a few minutes once in a while. Hopefully closer to the end of the year.

I love a low lying truck. Cant beat the look. How is it working putting it on a Dakota frame?

I definitely know that feeling. Mine has been in the build process for many years. The dakota frame has been suprisingly easy. It was all the same dimensions, so just a little fabrication here and there. I think I attached a pic but not for sure.

Can't wait to see some more updates on your ride!

Re: 56 pro touring build

its getting easier. It works well to split the tube and mate it that way. Thanks for the motivating words!

I can see how that would be much better than just putting the flat on top of the tube.
great work!!

Oh, do I have to take the bag off before I install it? I thought that it was part of it.

I did not want to take it out of the bag. It is perfectly clean now and want to keep it that way until its ready.

Re: 56 pro touring build

That looks awesome!....and I have to agree, if I was to start over, I'd just throw away the stock frame and just build all new....no compromising or fighting past damage....
