Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Just got home from Michigan... Time to get back to work on the 67 Shortwide. If all goes as planned I hope to be getting this on the road by early spring. Lots of fab issues coming up. Im going to fab a gas tank filler kneck into the bottom of the bed with an access door. Ive decided to spray in a bed liner once I get that all in place. Lots to do. Wiring, finish putting the engine compartment together and get everything to fit.... Cant waite to get this one on the road....

I think the thing that I like the most about watching your builds JR is the fact that your family is always involved. From your sons to your wife each and every memeber of the family seems to have some part in your builds. Keep up the good work and enjoy the time together.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Thanks Redneck 72 and VA72C10.
I think Im doing one of my favorite parts of building the truck right now. I like the wiring part of it. It is great to have a family that enjoys helping put these projects together and I do enjoy my time with them. I can tell you this since Linda has been helping she has started asking me to put things on the truck like Curtosy Lights on the inside that I would have not even wanted. The only thing is a lot of these trucks were not wired or have the theaded hole to install the door jam switches. One more thing to work around. Right now Im trying to figure out how to make the backup lights work now that I have moved the shifter to the floor and there is no Backup Light switch on the column anymore. Im kinda scratching my head on this one. This is the fun part of doing this build. JRBECK64 |

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Started Putting the Engine Together today. Finding that with all the new pulleys there are a lot of things in way that I am going to have to figure out work arounds. I think that maybe this week I am going to put the front end on the truck so I can start wiring it. My Wife undercoated the front fenders and there is some places that need some touch up as far as the paint goes. Anyway its getting closer and hopefully I will get the gas filler neck this week so I can get the bed on next weekend. Its a hurry up and waite thing...

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Installed the Door Jam Switches for the Courtesy Lts finished all the interior wiring and installed the new Brake Booster/Master Cylinder, with the Alternator now on the drivers side because of the AC there is about 2 inches between the Master Cylinder and the Alternator. Im a little worried that once I put the Proportioning Valve on it might just hit the Alt. May have to do a remote placement of the Master Cylinder. Love these Custom Curve Balls I keep getting thrown at me. Oh well when its all done it will all be worth it. Picked up my Grill Surrounds today from the Polisher and they look better than new... I will take some pictures once I put them on and post them.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Well we got the Front of the Truck put on today along with putting in the Carpet kit and installing the glovebox and the dash cluster. We also painted the clear on the Grill Surrounds, and they look great. I am going to let them dry for 2 more days before I put them on the truck. My Wife and Son were instrumental in getting all that we got done today. My Hats off to them. My Wife cut in the shifter out of the carpet and its going to look great. Im really getting excited about getting near the end of this project. I am going to Wire the engine compartment and the headlights this week along with installing the Seats. I hope to get the Gas Filler Neck this week so I can get it fabbed into the bed and then maybe next weekend we can get it on the frame. I made a big order of all the parts I need to finish this truck so I hope they show up soon so I can finish this thing... Here are some pictures of the progress we made this weekend...

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Well today I made a little progress. I installed the Mini High Torque Starter, The rear Shocks, Finished Installing all the wiring in the Engine Compartment short of hooking up the Battery so I could do the system tests. Here is a couple more pictures of the Truck and My Shop Model.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Once again magnificent job. I can't wait to see the finished truck and maybe some youtube video of it running up and down the road. Can we revisit the adoption thing, I promise I will take the trash out and keep my room clean. Promise I will.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto
Its a deal I have a 60lb pit mix i have to clean up after here. She is a good one though. Don't mind it too much. Also have 12lb Bischon Poodle mix that often needs cleaning up after because he is puppy pad trained he is almost house broken but he still has accidents.
But I love em both. Paul |
