I changed out the antifreeze last night because it is getting cold here fast. I did not want what happened to my buddies motor. No antifreeze = pushed out freeze plug and the side of the block= JUNK. Shannon

Well I know it is not a Chevy but here is what I am working on now. It is a 1953 Ford F100. It has a scary pipe notch in it that is about a 1/2 thick and that is the cross section of the frame at that point. I started on it this weekend, built a notch, put in a new rear cross member, removed the factory ones, boxed the frame, and removed all the springs. It is getting a triangulated 4 bar and bags all the way around. I hope to have the rear done this weekend which should not be a problem , then onto the front.

I actually really like those fords. The one in the Expendibles or whatever that movie is was sick. I dunno how you get your hands on sooo many projects. Maybe cause I don't know enough people round my parts, but I have one friend I talk to about old cars. Another friend that has a 53' bel air and that is it as far as good friends that are into this stuff. I've met some folks along the way but seems like you know alot of people that have cool old rides. keep up the good work. You building your own tri link? I'm going to be heading into this on my next project. The prices they put on these link systems are ridiculous.

Shannon, say it is so, a F#rd, nah just kidding. I've always liked the 53 thru 56 F100's. Man that hold frame notch was scary looking. Your doing a great job as always. My son and I have used the tri-4 bar kits from Horton Welder Series and work real nice...Jim

99 to Life, I like it also. I actually am going to buy a 53-55 cab and hood cheap real soon. I get work by just word of mouth. The rear was a kit but you know it is I am remaking half of it! I like the f100 in that movie also.

Well this weekend I got a good bit done. Made the lower links, finished welding in the boxing, and made what I need to put everything in. I have the suspension all in and just need to make the upper bag mounts yet and finish up some welding and a few odds and ends. I could not wait to cut the old notch out so I did at about 7 last night. I was funny when I went in for supper and my wife asked what I was doing because the lights on the house were diming. I was running my big air compresser and running the plasma cutter which draws alot. I was cutting through at least 1/2' plate. The only thing I have to change is the front cross member on the notch because it hits a little on the upper links. Then mount the fuel cell and then onto the front. Shannon

shannon, looking good. Where did you get your bushings? This place was the cheapest I found on an them, even link bars. I wanted to build my own but for the cost of bushing and the D.O.M tubing, it would be about the same as buying them. http://www.customconnectionllc.com/ I am going to be making some bottom link bars like yours. I like that set up and bag location the best from the looks of things. I know there are tons of ways to bag something, but I def like this route. keep it up, good work as always.

99 to Life, Good site. It is cheaper to buy there weld on ends from them than buying tubing and buy the bushings for them and making the ends. The piece of DOM tubing from McMaster Carr was $29 for a foot. Then I had to saw it and I turned the ends. I used 2"x2" 1/4 wall tubing for the lowers. Then used the kit for the rest.

shannon, yeah that site and welder series has some good stuff. D.O.M is just expensive, but sometimes you can get run offs at places for cheap. I'm lucky to have a friend up this way that deals with a supply shop, so now I should be able to get some material. Also summit sells DOM and square tubing now, which is cool. I think you can get a 4ft piece for 30 bucks, but then add 17 for shipping.

Well it seems like forever since I last posted. The truck is all finished and already went home. It took about a month to do everything. It raises up to about 7.5 inches and layes out about an inch off the ground. I used camaro shockes up front and made the mounts, also relocated the bump stops. The rear I used g body shocks mounted to the lower links and bump stops on the bidge (no pictures of that). Tomorrow the next project is coming. So a new chevy build thread. Here are some pictures of the truck.

Well I have not posted on this thread for a while. I bought a steering wheel for the panel because I had the sad looking Malibu wheel still on. I took it to a show on Friday night and in the morning I drove it to work . It seemed to start hard. Did it on Saturday morning too. Then came Sunday, no spark at all. So put a module in it . Started but ran really crappy. Then I got grease on the fender. I got my spray bottle out that was marked wax and grease remover. Wrong, I put liquor thinner in that bottle the last time and sprayed it on the fender. Well I will need to touch up the epoxy now after I wiped it around. Looked at the rag and seen the grey color, of coarse I had a few choice words. I will probably put spark plugs in it. But I also am changing out the intake from a single plane to a dual plane to get some more bottom end. I also bought a new HEI, wires, and a holley carb. My carb I first had on it is rebuilt but still does not run right and the one that is on it is a buddies. So I bought a new one. So I can not wait to change everything over when I get time, or I should say make time. So I can not wait to get home tomorrow because the brown truck is coming!

Oldman3, I looked at a bunch of different wheels and they had a bunch of different prices. This one did not break the bank. I thought it somewhat matched my wheels. Yes hope it runs better when I am done. My old intake would be better with a higher converter and more gear. I wanted yo go fast now I just want to get there. I must be getting older. Haha
Mknittle, it always seems like when you buy stuff it never fits and or need modified. At least when my buddy bought that kit and I only used half of it, I now have half of one for myself. Youngrodder, carbs can be a pain. That is one thing I will never buy used. You never know how much modifying they did and things the drilled out.Yes I can not wait to see the difference in it. Although it was really fun on the highway at the higher Rpms. It was a good day , my parts came from summit. I also had been looking for another welding bottle. I already have 2 but I wanted another 75/25 bottle. I have a straight argon bottle for my TIG so that is good enough. I always seem to run out of mig gas on the weekend so now I will not. He sold it to me for $80. You can not buy very big bottles anymore. They only want to rent them. I did not want to rent one. Posted via Mobile Device
