Re: Project 30 years sitting

10 pages, woot.

Got blower box in today from teeitup, so clean it and bolt it on this weekend.
My photoshoot for tomm got cancelled, so full weekend of working on the truck during the day. I can edit pics at night.

However, I do need to finish stripping this Yukon so I can burn/crush it in a few weeks.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

So Thursday I had a lady back into my daily truck and damage the front bumper. I woke up this morning to my mailbox being on the ground, and the back bumper of my daily truck damaged. How lovely? So looks like Im fixing a mailbox today.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

rofl, nice!!

So got that fixed, neighbor had been asking us to fix her fence for atleast a month or longer. We told her it would be a while before we got to it. Since we had all the screws, saws, etc out. We fixed it as well.

So pictures I'm attaching. One is from the one I got backed into. I'm not sure where she had parked, but assuming one of the spots across the path. I have NO clue how she even got close to my truck, but she hit it. Atleast she came inside and is having insurance take care of it.

Next is from this morning. whoever was traveling the path your looking. Yes, in the complete wrong lane. Side swiped the mailbox, then clipped the back bumper of my truck. Missed my car though. Cop said nothing about my parking job.

The other is the PYT I took pics of Friday afternoon. Obviously this is a cell shot since shes holding my camera reviewing pics.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

ok, so back to the garage.

We had been debating on moving the engine forward since the 4l60e is longer then the th350 I removed. So we test fitted the core support, rad, shroud, and put the drivers fender on to keep the core square. We decided to go forward with moving the engine.

So we jacked engine up, removed my cross member, drilled the upper holes. Marked lowers with paint stick, then torched them. Ended up moving it the pass side a hair by accident. But engine is back in, all pullys and belt on. New blower box from teeitup cleaned and installed. Also got my throttle peddle working using the 95 Yukon cable and my 72 peddle. Heated it up, bent it a little. Then cut slit into the eyelit.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

So Sunday I got the pass exhaust manifold on, core support on, second trans cooler mounted, distrib installed, old fuel line removed. Then some more work on the wiring. Really need some wiring help as I cant figure out what 2 wires are on the truck. Then what some of these are in the yukon harness.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

I needed the dash harness out of the yukon. Since it was already broken, I had some fun with it.

I'm starting to strip what I "think"I can sell off it, so I can scrap the rest in a week or two. It didnt turn out NEAR as well as I wanted.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Alright, so every night this week I have been just slightly tinkering with wiring. I just didn't feel like messing with any today. But I did mount my fuse box. Then I got my shifter linkage situated and done up with just some tack welds. This was something I had been very worried about. While the welder was out, I modified my dipstick tube. Radiator is in place for test fitting the lower hose and fan shroud.

Also pulled a few parts off the parts truck so I can scrap it in a week or two once my ebay auctions end.

Calling it an early day as I have a bday party to attend, plus a photo event this evening-early morning.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Got some of my wiring done last night. I know I have 2 pink power wires to figure out. Hook up my fuel pump, and connect my backup light switch. I need to find my old alt-battery wire from the yukon.

I clear coated my patina valve covers. Just laying in the garage they had changed a little bit. I will install them with my spark plug wire hold-downs that I ordered, along with some of my fuel system.

The yukon is ready to go. Some of my ebay auctions have ended with no-sales. Few more left to end. Sadly I will have only sold about 200bux worth of parts off it. Ive kept the front clip, rims, engine, trans. I will be in this engine for considerably more then I planned.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Thanks HGS. Looks are deceiving though. I still have my full fuel system to setup. Hoses should be here today.

So yesterday... I got all my coolant lines on. More wiring done, and spent 5hrs researching 1, yes 1!! wire. The engine bay is almost complete for test starting.

I still have.....
all my inside to do. Mounting and wiring for the ses light, aldl plug, etc.
my fuel system
change the OPS in my transmission
extend my exhaust
install my O2 sensor

For future reference, the little yellow wire(sometimes orange/black) on terminal A of the neutral safety switch(plug c2) of a 4l60e, is for a trunk/hatch release.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

All of the wiring in the engine bay should be done except the ground from the battery.
I have located transmission shop to rebuild trans. Hope to pull it tonight.
Placed hopefully my last order for parts to make this run. Fuel fitting, tbi spacer, line extenders(1 is inline schrader valve), vss signal creator... and 2 tires for my daily

Inside, i have routed my wires to there needed location for connection. Removed what I dont need. I had previously removed one I do need Will need to fix it.

All the red wires you see, I'm hoping to eventually route to my 95 fuse box. But its all aftermarket stuff like radio, fans, driving lights, etc. Dont need that for making it run.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

I dropped my transmission off Thursday night. I got a call just before lunch that they would have it done before close tonight. So... 24hr hour turn around. I just hope it is done right. He did say he wanted to see it in the project once its running. Plan to put it in Saturday.

All my fuel system stuff should be here. I need to drop the tank some and connect my lines. Will see how time goes for all this.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

fuel system connected and tested
motor mounts all tightened up
picked up tools because I couldn't find half of them, lol.
np205 shifter installed

Went to install front driveshaft and the cardigan joint interferers with the trans pan. So I'm in searching for solutions.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

Nope, I have the figure8 bolt pattern.

I took the pan off, heated the corner in question and hammered it in with a body hammer. Will install tonight.

Re: Project 30 years sitting

When sublety doesn't work, use a hammer. If that fails, use a bigger hammer.
