Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good K/5

Thanks everyone! It's a load off, for sure.

Picked up an internal spare tire carrier from LMC. I don't generally like ordering from them, but they had what I needed and originals are bringing $500 plus on eBay...

Good luck over there, it will be an experience.

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good K/5

Thanks a lot guys! The building was supposed to have a jet flying out of that huge hole in the awning, but was cut due to budget constraints--that would have been a cool shot...

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good K/5

A couple of the ceramic coated exhaust manifolds and the plug wire routing--what a PITA! I also coated the manifold hardware in anti-sieze, which should keep them from rusting for a while...

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good K/5

Here's the only real 'non-stock' modifications I made. All of the crap in this box was not put back on the truck. The original points distributor, coil, and transmission-controlled spark, timing-pulling, power-robbing system were removed and replaced with the HEI. Lucky for me, the Accel HEI pigtail harness that I bought used the same style brass connector as the pink power wire for the TCS, so I simply yanked all of the unneeded wires from the harness and stuck the HEI connector on the end of the wire. This gives me a factory appearing switched 12v to the distributor with a snap-in spade connector on the fusebox end and a firewall grommet. I just routed it up along the rain gutter with the rest of the wires and it looks like it belongs
