Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Yea I know, I need to post pics... so here's one of my truck in the parking lot at work. Made it with no issues. Even took it out when I ran errands at lunch. I took a bunch of pics but haven't got them off the camera yet
![]() Truck actually drives pretty good, rides better than I expected and isn't as loud inside the cab as I thought. Has a little bit of a shimmy that I need to look into, but other than that was all good. a little less than 400 miles left on the break in and it'll be all ready to go. |

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
OK as promised, the truck as it is right now, warts and all. I know I have to paint the master cylinder, ordered the POR-15 for it tonight from Summit.

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Been a while but I made a big step today, I have the body complete now that I have a tailgate. It's a GMC gate that was straight but a little bumpy. It was cheap ($100) so I went for it for now. Had it blasted, put bedliner in the bed side and painted the rest. I got a decent driver quality "CHEVROLET" band with the gate, so cleaned that up and installed it. I'll be a functional gate that looks great from about 10 feet but it'll serve!
![]() Got the stereo in so the interior looks complete now, just need some speakers. |

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
And.... installed. Thing works great, and it's nice and tight and doesn't make any noise going down the road. Now I gotta paint the bed to match!!

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Looks good. Are you going to put tail light trim on it to match the trim on the tailgate. FYI i'm going to plan another get together at Stark street pizza at the end of January.

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Well been a bit since I updated but I've been really busy with band stuff lately. Finally got back to driving the truck after chasing down a leak on the intake. Wound up being the heater hose fitting next to the thermostat housing leaking thru the threads. Drained the coolant and pulled it out, cleaned it, put some more gasket sealer on the threads, and it stopped leaking. Took it to work today and no issues except for some rattles that I have to chase down.
Dropping the bench off next week to get it redone, then it's lining the cab with sound deadener, and putting in a new carpet. Next will be the gas filler so I can finish up the bed. I decided to go with the Blazer setup, so I have the patch piece and getting the filler tube next week. Gonna have to find a good welder to help me out on that one! ![]() In the meantime, going to drive it anytime I can. ![]() |

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Got the bench back last week and installed the insulation and carpet. Going to get the speaker panels in the corners later, but I've spent too much money for now to get them! The interior looks like it's a totally different truck. Next step is building my gauge cluster.
![]() Thanks to Rick from Chevy Metal in Vancouver for doing such a great job on the bench! Last edited by 69SCSS; 02-09-2015 at 05:06 PM. |

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Thanks guys! I still have to finish my gauge cluster to be able to drive it again, then the dash will look nice and clean too. It's going to be a lot quieter in the cab now with all that insulation.
So Rob - how's the truck coming along? ![]() |

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Getting closer to getting the cluster done... this is what the bezel looks like right now. No, this isn't going to be the usual 3 hole non gauge cluster.

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
It's not. Haha. Still working on suspension parts but keep getting side tracked buying tools instead.

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
And here's the (semi) finished result. I will be making a quad gauge to replace the fuel gauge, and then I have to figure out the speedo setup, but until then, I'll have a little 3 gauge panel under the heater controls. Thanks to Tom for the help with the inner and outer tins, and the parts.

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Finally had time to do a little to the truck. I'll finish the door trim when I put the insulation in the doors and behind the door panels next week.

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Finished the trim and insulating the passenger door today, going to replace the door latch and the window regulator on the driver door tomorrow, then my door will close without having to slam it, and I won't have to wrestle the regulator to get the window up and down. Can't wait!

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Gas filler update.... more pics tomorrow, but here's what I have so far, the filler neck that will be modified and the plate to mount where my current filler is. Taking the filler down to my friend's shop and we're going to build a 1.5" pipe to go from the filler neck to the tank.

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Here's the pics of the finished filler, for some reason my post didn't show up, but it was probably user error
![]() I still need to patch the bed floor and the inner bedside, but this works SOOOO much better than my hacked Suburban filler. ![]() |

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Update... finally got around to putting in the speaker panels in the corners of the cab, and they look great. Stereo sounds much better with those 2 6x9's, even though they're just stock woofers. I'll eventually slap some nice 6x9's in there, but I had these already. Sounds pretty good with the 3.5" speakers I have in the dash, and helps push it above the sound of the exhaust on the freeway.
![]() Yes, I know I need to vacuum the cab LOL! ![]() |

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Working on something I've been planning finally.. a quad gauge. It'll be all OEM gauges, and I'm trying for an OEM kind of look. This is my test setup, with a couple of spare gauges. I'm using 78-80 Oil pressure gauge and volt gauge, and the stock 67-72 temp and fuel gauge. Once I have the gauge built, I'll use an actual decal for the faceplate. So far fitting together pretty good, this is a rough mockup just to see how it would look.

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
After the quad gauge, here's the next project to tackle. Not too bad, going to paint it black when I'm done and use the new cap I bought a few months ago.

Re: 69 LWB Power Tour Rig
Wound up being able to keep my truck, literally my A** was saved at the last minute, as in the dude's on his way over to buy the truck in the nick-of-time. Long story, but to summarize, when a family member dies and there's an inheritance, make sure EVERYONE does what they're supposed to do, including Government Agencies.
