Re: Mr Green Jeans - the 69 (or not) chevy, er gmc, project
Starting to revisit the dash. Trying to decide where what goes. The unfortunate part is that when I dug out the glove box door I guess something rather heavy had fallen on it in the last 6 years or so. I’m making other arrangements. A blank sheet of metal looks so bland, so I broke out the punch tool again. I had almost forgotten I used it on the tailgate so it will sort of bring the theme inside.

Re: Mr Green Jeans - the 69 (or not) chevy, er gmc, project
Center section filled. Will probably put a touch screen double din stereo in there. And build a lower panel for a/c vents and controls. And make a new column mount since I can’t raise it enough to attach it in the new dash. (It’s held by zip ties right now) And modify the brake hanger to attach to the dash since they are miles apart now. Change one thing, change everything.

Re: Mr Green Jeans - the 69 (or not) chevy, er gmc, project
I did it! Ididit! ...is the brand of column I bought. Bad joke. Sorry. Making a panel below the dash for a/c vents and also mounting a panel for bag switches and two pressure gauges. Since the air bag stuff is going down there I’ll mount a single din head unit and the heat/ air controls up high.

Re: Mr Green Jeans - the 69 (or not) chevy, er gmc, project
I mounted the radio in my 56 gmc by cutting a hole and sliding it in. Always thought it should have been recessed but after paint who wants to cut and weld? This time I used angle iron and built a cubby hole. This radio will very nearly be flush. Now to mount a Vintage Air control panel in there...

Re: Mr Green Jeans - the 69 (or not) chevy, er gmc, project
I like the VHX gauges I got for this truck but had to make a change. Dakota Digital doesn’t make individual gauges for the set I got and I wanted to add a boost and afr gauge for the turbo. I don’t want a mess of mismatched gauges cobbled together in random places on the dash. So I ordered some custom built gauges from Speedhut to fit my instrument cluster. Now I can achieve zen by having everything in its proper place. Besides, it just wouldn’t be right if I didn’t do every part of this truck at least twice.

Moving to a new home. Rolling a truck downhill with no steering is fun. Couldn’t have done it without my dad, my father in law , and my son in law helping. Moving sucks!

Re: Mr Green Jeans - the 69 (or not) chevy, er gmc, project
I can agree with that one!
On a positive note, the truck out of the garage allows us to see the proportions you chose. I think you nailed it man! It looks like it could have rolled off the GM line... that is to say if they ever made one! Cool build!

Re: Mr Green Jeans - the 69 (or not) chevy, er gmc, project
Trying to get settled. In the last couple weeks I’ve painted 5 rooms and built an 8x8 shed. Trying some lights I found on Amazon. I bought a 12 pack of T5 linkable led lights and installed 8 of them on the big bay side of the garage. They are as bright as my old garage was with 20 F32T8 fluorescent bulbs. I’ll install the last 4 in the small bay side and should be good. @ $80 for 12 it’s a good price, too.

Wow. The lighting in your shop is great! Hard to believe you can get that much lighting for only 80 bucks... and be way more efficient! Nice upgrade

Re: Mr Green Jeans - the 69 (or not) chevy, er gmc, project
I’m starting back on this truck but taking a very very different path to completion. I feel like it will be easier to start from scratch since most of what I’ve already done won’t be used. I’m starting a new thread here…
https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=851167 hopefully I can actually finish the truck this time and stick with a plan. I thought about parting it out but would rather finish it than cut it up. I’ve already cut up and threw away a 70 Chevelle and 70 RS Camaro in the past. Still kicking my own behind for that even though all the parts went into my 79 trans am and 56 gmc.
