Great minds think alike I guess I am leaning towards the grigio but my local ppg suppliers cant find the paint color even when I bring the exact paint code from Lambo. I plan to call around and see if they are just being difficult or if this is a problem for others suppliers as well.

Funny thing is I had the same idea of using red carpet, race seats, and a suede race style wheel like you used haha. So if you see that later on I promise I didn't blatantly copy you!

Looking good. Anyway you could measure the distance from the ground to thr frame rails? I want to go with the same setup but the drop doesn't look like enough for me. I want the tires tucked into the fender wells. I like the rims.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I would be glad to get measurements once I get it to full weight. But that may be quite a while. I can tell you that the front tires are tucked slightly, and the rear will go lower. I just dont have much notch left. If you want to go lower in the rear I suggest a step notch or similar.

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)

Updates! Havent posted in a while but have gotten a lot done.

I got the slicksand blocked out, had to give a couple of spots a second shot and another round of blocking.

Sprayed some 2K

Smoothed seam starting to look pretty good

Wet sanded inside and out in the cold weather

Self leveling seam sealer in the drip rail

Built a make shift booth in my grandparents warehouse, positive pressure with a filtered box fan on high blowing in and another fan set to medium blowing out. Even though it isnt air tight, in theory nothing should be able to enter the booth that isn't already in there.

Paint!

Interior masked off

Interior trimmed out. It is Porsche Grey Black, I was skeptical but love it in person! It is not for everyone, but I wanted to be different.

Outside masked and basecoat sprayed

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)

Thanks for the reply. I thought the truck was still together. I will soon find out for myself. I ordered a wideride and fatbar two days ago.

I decided to shorten a longbed frame and keep my shorty frame uncut. Probably sell it as a roller and drive train combo so if I get my act together and have it done soon enough we can compare measurements.
Keep at it. Looking good.
I like the paint booth.

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)

Cleared!

Im very pleased with how it came out given the circumstances. It was painted in a homemade booth and I have minimal experience spraying (my first complete car to paint) and it came out pretty slick out of the gun with little trash. Much better than I expexted!

Better pics in the sunshine as soon as I get a chance to roll it out of the booth. Next step is to spray the underside and the floor with color matched raptor liner. Then it will get mated to the frame for the last time!

Are you planning on using stock fender wells in the front? Just wondering if you tried them.

Looks awesome. Great work! I plan to build a makeshift both as well. I hope my paint turns out half as good as yours.

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)

I was reading your rear install and I am confused about how the fatbar moves the axle centerline. My instructions say mark the centerline and go 36 up from there and mount the front mount. Did any of the holes in your front mount use any existing holes?
I have a coil spring frame I am working with and nothing lines up with the mount. Just wondering what you used as a center line.

If I remember right there was a hole on the frame that lined up to the bracket. But I did measure from the bolt holes in the bed floor to the center of the wheel arch then measured from the bracket on the frame to make sure it was close. Your wheel should be aligned right in the center of the wheel arch with this kit versus being a little forward like they come stock.

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)

As you know the instructions that come with the kit are well terrible. Looking at the fatbar bracket all of the holes are 3/8s with the exception of one that is 5/16. I was looking and my frame earlier and found one 5/16 hole that looked equal on both sides. with a level set on top of the bracket it looked like everything would work but I did not measure everything.

So my next question is did you find this hole on your own or did you make a call. For $6500 I would think good instructions isn't too much to ask for. But the parts are all very nice.

Oh getting the crossmember in was a chore. Big ratchet strap and a come a long and 2 hrs later it was in. I was working by myself.

What size tubing did you use for your frame crossmembers?

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)

Been a while since I updated. Got the cab sprayed with color matched bed liner under the floor, insulated, and have started plumbing and bolting on what I can. Sorry for the oversized pictures above. I can figure out how to edit the post.

Sorry for the delayed response, yes the instructions aren't very clear. For the tubing I used 1 1/2". I cant recall the wall thickness, but I used relatively light stuff because of how much bracing I planned to add. Triangles are strong so wall thickness doesn't have to be as heavy to a certain degree. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I'm no professional painter, but it sure does look good on the interwebs! Let's see some close up pics of the paint job when you get a chance.

Great work!

Re: Project 'Kickin Wing' (No Limits/Hotchkis/PorterBuilt/LS Power)

From looking at your pics I dont think my truck is gonna be any lower than it is now. I have a 3/5 drop. The new chassis is all NO LIMIT just like yours. With a 29 in tire my frame rails are 10.5 off of the ground. With no weight on the chassis I get the same measurement in the rear frame to axle. I hope it gets lower. I like the color you picked.

That color looks great on a C10 IMO.

Reminds me of the Craftsman C10.

I really like the bed liner on the bottom too.

Thanks, I am looking forward to seeing it with doors and fenders to get a better idea of what the color is going to look like.

I sprayed it with the eastwood concours LT as it is made to work with small cfm compressors. I don't have a fancy compressor/dryer setup, so I used my harbor freight compressor with a desiccant snake and had no issues with moisture or with the compressor keeping up. It worked out really well.
