Nice looking build. I like the way it turned out. I'm going through similar issues with gaps etc with my doors now so I know exactly what you went through.

Thanks guys! It's been a blast this summer and hopefully we have a decent fall before it gets tucked away for winter.

Thumbs up Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

I just finished reading your entire thread. You have a beautiful truck and did a great job on documenting the build. I hope you get to enjoy all the hard work and are able to put on another 4000+miles in the next season.
I have always liked the TF fleetsides. I picked up a short fleet box for my '58 step side a while back and hope to either convert the '58 or find another recipient for it.

Thanks Fleet 66! Truck is officially parked for the winter. I picked up a overdrive transmission recently so I will be putting that in within the next few weeks. Yeah I hope to put a few miles on next summer for sure and it will be a lot better with an overdrive.

So much more comfortable with OD, and should be better on fuel.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

I should have put an overdrive in right away but the turbo 350 just worked too good to warrant a change out. Now that I have made a few longer trips with it that overdrive will be awesome.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

Finally was able to find a little bit of time to pull out the turbo 350 and get the overdrive in. Just waiting for my drive shaft to get finished up and add oil.

The 700R4 was one of the best mods so far for my truck, you're going to enjoy the overdrive for sure!!

I'm really looking forward to taking it out for a drive. I still have to figure out the best way to hook up the lockup converter.

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

I'm with Chuckdriver, the best swap you'll ever make!!!

I hooked up the converter with a manual switch, via a relay connected to the brakeswitch, so if you hit the brake, the lock up falls off.
It works for me

Snow has once again arrived and sadly the truck is back into hibernation. Was a great season of cruising though.

Can you tell me what rims, sizes & tires you’re using? Any closer photos? They look to be EXACTLY what I had planned on using on my ‘55 until I got a deal on some BOyds Smoothies that i’m Not sure I’m in love with.

Great looking truck!

Re: 1959 short Fleetside Apache AKA "Henry"

I have staggered wheels 20’s on the rear and 18’s on the front the rear tires are 255 45 20 and the front are 235 50 18. Sorry my phone turns the pictures sometimes for some reason but you can get a good idea of what the rims look like.
