The PO did a number on that TF. Just a suggestion, don't look at the clock. Track dollars not hours.. Just my 2 cents worth.

BTY, I read about this and used it and now I swear by this. It's a mix of 50% Acetone and 50% ATF any ATF, it works wonders for rusty bolts/nuts. It's way cheaper and works way better. I use a spray bottle from the local parts store. Just thought.

Looks like "Dimples" may learn to sand, block sand, and do a guide coat, the family that sands and sweats together, stays together.

That's my step fathers chopper that we made the frame is a custom from a local bike shop its got a single side swing arm on it and is the #2 of 2 that were made that way the fender tank and headlight are custom rolled/welded by me when I was in auto body school also painted by me in both colors and the engine is out of a Buell X1 Lightning with different hot rod things here and there.

These pictures show it from a few angles and at its original color which was also the same as his Nova

Thanks for the comments on the bike it's made it on countless calendars and local mags crazy the amount of attention it gets and then they hear a 19 year old kid built and the jaws really drop

Finally tracked down the correct contact tips time to get to work!

Only got an hour or so in on the truck so I just worked on some patches

Took a second look at the power steering pump bracket I'm not giving up hope yet now that we have the adjuster bracket and I see exactly where it mounts and it "might" clear the gear we will see though

One of the pump and two parts books I got to take home so spread the word I'm the guy to talk to now if we need original diagrams

For you guys that were digging on the chopper earlier here another side project I'm on its a 76 shovel head my uncle got passed down from his father in law so we are doing a full restoration on it had the engine and transmission professionally gone through and in the last few weeks have been getting it back together for the summer riding season we just got another set of rims and had them re-chromed as well just no pictures yet

Love the shovel motors!!!! Actually all the old style HD motors are nice even though they dont have much HP they have all the STYLE for builders....

Val I dont think you are gonna have any problems with fixing up this "chop job truck" after seeing your bike building talents..... just keep up the GOOD work, dont cut corners to save time.

The Style factor on the old Harley is defanitly a 11/10 The more time I spend on this bike the more I want my own its so cool

Never thought I would be excited about that but hey its a hotrod wheelbarrow!

Did a quick measurement as well as a gauge comparison and it's the same thickness as my trucks doors no issues with quality there

I will start the transformation tonight or tomorrow

One areas a little long on the one side but I figure its not going to affect anything and nobody will see that area anyways so no big deal

Just worried about the dip that the bottom piece has the bolt hole in I didn't notice it because the patch didn't seem to have any alignment problems anyone have a picture of this area so that I can confirm if I did it correct or not?

By this time it was getting dark and I only had enough light to tac the other side on all in all productive not my best welds ever but my first on this thin of metal this season so good I think

Also not sure what I am going to do with those holes yet I really don't want to just fill them with rod maybe but also don't want to spend an hour making all the circles to patch them maybe a bolt head would fit nice

Are you arc welding? ----

or mig with flux wire? or gas? --- if its with gas you need more gas psi on it, looks like it is a 'dirty weld' you're getting. Maybe try turning up the heat just a touch so it flattens out a bit more.

That wheelbarrow looks like it will fit perfect without much cutting. Nice!

Flux Core MIG is all I have available that was max Voltage on the dial maybe I need thinner wire?

Yea maybe try .030 wire for the sheetmetal work and save the .035 for thicker stuff. Ive been using .030 on everything lately.

Then just get a can of spatter paste! - it will save you alot of clean up time with the grinder! .... lol keep those welds clean everytime you go back over them. that flux is what makes the little holes in your welds.

EDIT: Something like this? Weld-Aid Nozzle-Kleen Heavy Duty Nozzle Dip...
Are we referring to the brown dust left over by the flux core? Or the weld spatter? Self taught welder here definitely not the best but good enough to get an I-CAR card so how hard could that really be if they let me have one

This is the anti spatter stuff just don't spray too much so it's dripping. If your using 110V welder I would use .025 flux core wire, I have had good luck with it for sheet metal in the past. Good progress tho I love the hot rod wheel barrel LOL.
