Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen
@Flames97
I fitted and welded my cab corners, I will have to say, they are not easy. I ended up cutting a few inches of the bottom of the inner cab corners off, to keep the water trap problem out. The best way to get the ouuters to fit was to butt weld them. I did put a 3/4 inch "backer" behind it. Now Im where you are at with the poor fitment of the rocker edge. I may get it close and call it good. It is kind of a rat rod... Got the last seat belt mount tab welded in too! Last edited by Dave0; 01-10-2018 at 07:20 PM. |

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen
Dash extension about done. The lt emboss is for the parking brake release. There will be a A/C vent next to it. The center piece will have 3 A/C vents and two embossed areas for the fresh air vent pull cables. I trimmed everything close the allowed for a rubber gasket on each end and around the column. Time to take this thing all apart and do some grinding and get the bottom and firewall all painted up! I'll post some more pics up when I get the cab back on the frame.

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen
Thank you, believe it or not, I beat that dash extension over a piece of pipe with a block of wood to get the radius at the bottom. I got tired of waiting on the sheet metal shop to fab me one up...

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen
Thanks for the info. With the roundness of everything else, I would initially sat the rounds would look better, but they're too big. I think an oval or rounded corner rectangle would look best. Just my thoughts.

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen
Wow!! That lower Dash portion came out great. I've been wanting to do that as well.
Cab corner looks like it came out really good.

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen
Some shtf boxes added to the step area, also will hold some 6.5 midbass drivers. Getting everything blasted and sanded for paint.
Im going to weld bond a outter skin on these after I get everything epoxied and seam sealed. Last edited by Dave0; 01-26-2018 at 10:20 PM. |

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen
Hey that lower dash extension looks great.
I have been thinking about that for quit a while also! I really don’t want to cut up my virgin dash for air conditioning vents. I would be willing to pay you for a blank one if you could produce another one. Good job. Last edited by 56hotrodred; 02-04-2018 at 12:59 PM. |

Re: Putting Camaro front in 55 second gen
Well if you are willing to part with one; how much would you need and how can we ship to me in Arizona and what is the best method of payment?
I am in Arizona for another 3 or 4 weeks and then back up to Alberta. Once back home we could ship to Montana and I can run down and pick it up. Whatever is best for you! |

If you be real nice to Vintage air, they will sell you one of these plenums with 4 hose ends and vents that will go right into the dash with hose ends on them ! |

Check out post 223. I made some dies and pressed them in using a shop press.
