I drove it to work today. 80 miles round trip at speed up to 85’ish and had no issues.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
sounds like fun, except the work part. I would have been tempted to keep on going.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
After changing to a trunk gas tank fill setup, I was getting a lot of fumes inside the car. So, I bit the bullet and added a II MUCH VSR Vent System to remedy the problem.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
Drove it to a couple of local gatherings yesterday. It did great! No failures, smells etc, but after my wife finally drove it a few miles, she agreed with me that the current brake setup SuCkS, so she said fix it! Front 13” 6-piston Wilwoods are ordered

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
Finally got the Wilwood brake kit, master cylinder, proportioning valve, etc. started on a dry fit on the brake kit and the inner bearings are the wrong I.D. Spoke to a ‘tech’ guy from Wilwood and now feel dumber 😳
I think I’ve figured out how to fix it though. Gotta admit that the new brakes should certainly work better! 12.88” rotor & 6-piston caliper vs. 10” Rotors and a 1-piston caliper. 🤣 |

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
Turns out the previous brake kit was a POS that took quite a while to figure out what was wrong. But I believe I got it figured out. Hope to move forward now.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
I honestly don't know why I torture myself looking at the threads down here. So many super nice projects with progress.
I love this little car by the way. With some new binders installed it will be that much better. I'll bet you can't drive it far or fill it up without looks and comments. Super nice and if I saw you I'd try to strike up a conversation.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
I’ve been steadily working on the Falcon. I’ve installed Global West control arms and strut rods, plus a few other mods. But I gotta admit that I bought another Chevrolet for me.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
I just read through the entire thread, what a cool car. I've always liked those Falcons. It's nice to read through a thread like this and see that others have the same multitude of issues that pop up when building cars. Sometimes, it can be a bit depressing when those things happen. Its great to see a person who doesn't let it get them down. Anyway, awesome car! Can't wait to watch the upgrades you have planned.

Re: 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon aka Martha
I’ve got all the new Global West front suspension upgrades done. Hoping to get the alignment done this week. Then it’ll time to drive it some & just enjoy it. I’ll work on the heat & a/c next. I rebuilt the heater box, so I just need to mount the heater box & underdash a/c, build new a/c lines and charge everything up.
I also installed a Mike Meier shock tower brace and Hotchkis Mustang style upper shock mounts. Last edited by nlped; 10-11-2020 at 10:47 PM. |
