A '62 has to get back on the road

Corrected my mistake, new body filler, everything sanded and new based primer surfacer.
Oh boy, you can make life difficult for yourself.
The head part was done at the same time.
Let dry and sand again.

Now it's time for the right panel,
I wonder if the guys took part in Auto Cross with it.
The panel is a Challenge, let's start with it and then see what comes out.

Began to straighten the deformation.

I enjoyed using a slapping file (I make my own) and a shrinking disc to get out the fine warbles.





And it's amazing how much defect a good coat of Slick Sand can hide (grin).

Amazing what there is, I can get a slapping file. A shrinking disc is fairly unknown here in Europe, I first watched it on YouTube, great tool, I found one who built a shrinking disc out of a cocking Pot Lid, very interesting, thanks Sir.

As long as the parts recommended by SkinnyG are not available, it will continue old school, the long dent is fil up quite, well I also like the curvature quite a lot, but there are still large flat dents that should come out, started at the back.

Thank you for your kind words, unfortunately I have no alternatives, there are few Fleetside bed panels in Germany, I have to make the best of them, the body filler has to do the rest.

I'm still banging on the sheet metal, the slapping file is a good help, the parts for my shrinking disc have arrived.
The Wheel Arches and the inner supports are welded. Because of the accident, I have to get the lower Wheel Arch back to its original shape, but I will.

Since I'm always banging on the Sheet Metal, I wanted to do something different in between, so I took care of the Model A and brought it to life, what can I say, after decades it just started, crazy, I'm thrilled. The picture shows it in the condition I bought it, after which the seller roughly assembled the car.

A '40 Chevy Business Coupe is a cool car, I really like that too. I'm developing backwards and getting a taste for it, started with a '68 Mustang, now the '62 C10, now the '31 Model A Coupé, I think my fleet is fine now.

LOL, I started with a 1966 Chevelle, then a 1988 Mustang convertible, then the 1969 C10, now a 1966 C10 and as mentioned.. soon hopefully a 1940 Coupe. I tell people it is like a disease that will not go away, but one I like... lol but dang can be expensive disease with all that comes with it.

We have one of the most beautiful hobbies.
Freshly motivated, I went back to the Panel today and straightened the last areas, I'm quite satisfied, the body filler will fill up the bumps, it's a straight surface again and the wheel arch is back in shape.
Before and after is good to see. The Taillight Housing has yet to be shaped.

Yes, I like the before and after thing, too.
It was just a moment ago, I got a little sentimental, my sheet metal work on the C10 is finished. The taillight housing is also aligned and the bracket for the chain pin is also screwed.

You stand in front of it and think, that's it now? Welding machine can be pushed into the corner, no more bending and hitting sheet metal.
That could have happened with the little tears

Now I'm ready to Epoxy Primer the panel and then fill it.
That was instructive work.
It took a few passes.

A little progress in the shop, meanwhile the panel is painted with epoxy.
It's too cold and the paint needs weeks to dry so that I can apply and sand bodyfiller.
I also need a lot of patience.

Looking great Sir!! Keep up the work. I am pushing off body work for now with the temps and running all my lines and such..... could be a bit of not excited to do body work because I suck at it... lol
