Thank you! It really did lay down well. I just went over everything with 800 to smooth all the edges and lend to the patina in the fauxtina areas. Still trying to decide between a clear on the exterior or a product like patina sauce.

Now that I have the clear laid down on the interior, I can begin assembling the dash items and firewall parts. Ive begun installing the Vintage Air kit I got from laidbackrecreations and have been installing bits and pieces like the column, brake pedal assembly, and all the various dash fasteners. Totally overestimated my ability to store parts in easy places to find

I also opted to get the Full Custom Fab Vintage air bracket, since I will be running a modified heater box I will more than likely not be running the block off plate provided by Vintage Air. It fits well and really in all honesty needed no modification.

First time I've ever seen that FCF Vintage Air bracket. That'd be nice to have for the guys who have already smoothed their firewall. Good to know it was an easy install.

Been grinding away so long in the garage I forgot what it was like to be at a race... went to the NASCAR race in Richmond on Sunday. Boy I forgot how reviving it was to be around some fast moving cars.

Also added my speaker idea to the door. As I put in here before, I had someone sent me the speaker grill from a parts cab, and welded into my door. Ill run a 6x9 or something like that and encase it to protect it from water and debris, hopefully this ends up looking good.

I promise Ive been working on it just a lot of weld, grind, weld grind, hammer, weld, grind.... went to the Good Friday Mud Bog here in Charles City and saw a pretty slick 69/70 and a couple b-a Squarebodies

The passenger door has always had a mild depression across the entire panel, so I cut the door long ways across the body line just below the bolt in door panel, massaged everything and welded it back up, and chopped up my Altman latches and welded in.

Cool! I always wondered about welding in the Altman latches as oppose to bolting in. I like where your going with this.

Speaker grilles and latches look great. I would have done the same thing with those. Cleans them right up nice and smooth!

Really liking how this door latch came out. Also made a bracket for the under dash speaker, just need to get some foam material to seal it in place under the dash.

POR15 before assembly of the door skin, since I will not be able to access this easily for painting after. And it came out really well. Also panel adhered some 1/8 plate to create support for the speaker, so the panel doesn't vibrate light crazy if I get to turning it up.

Door looks good in place. Added a set of door wiring looms which appear to be off of a S10 or Squarebody (?) best I can guess. Got them off eBay for a whopping $80 but I far more like the fact they are bolted in, rather than just held in by friction. They are a bit large, but only will carry a few wires (speakers, MAYBE power windows one day), other than that they have plenty of room to move and squish. Also bought a cherry gauge cluster off board member Rods, been trying to track it down for a while! Mine had every single mount hole either broken or cracked, honestly amazed it never fell out of the dash.

Its the tiny details... swapped out the supplied hardware for the latches over to a phillips head style, as to keep with the 'stock-ish' appearances...

I'm keeping up with the progress. Everything is looking great! I love your attention to detail and the approach you are taking to make everything fully integrated instead of just bolting stuff on. Also, it's cool to see what others are getting into outside of their truck. I try to go to a race or two every year as well, however, I work at TRD so after working on racing stuff all day I just want to go home and work on my truck!

Thats pretty cool to work at TRD! I could totally understand the want to get away from the work stuff in your off time. Im a service advisor at a small shop, Ive had people ask why I dont get into doing the repairs myself as a tech, and its really because I want to go home at night ready to work on my personal stuff, not burn myself out.

Though this thing isnt a race vehicle (just a poser with TRD decals ), Im a big Toyota guy too. Had this 98 4Runner all my life, my mom bought it new. Shes my 391,000 mile baby!

That's an awesome 4Runner! And way to go for keeping it going for so long. I currently have a TRD Pro Tacoma but I'm thinking about getting a 4Runner instead.

That is a nice detail. I could never build a truck completely stock. But the Philips head bolts look like they belong. Torx tell the story immediately that it's not supposed to be there. Nice work

Went through the thread and enjoyed all the detail and progress!

Where are you getting the rust encapsulator? Eastwood has been out of it for the months it seems! Every time I look it is on perpetual backorder (right now it says it is out of stock until July!).

I actually ordered a good amount of it like a year or two ago and have just been going off that - Im down to the last 1/4 of the last can and trying to stretch it out, been seeing theyve been pushing the backorder date back like every month, which is super disappointing, its a great product.

Not a ton of progress to post on, been having some terrible sinus infection and seem to have developed some really bad tennis elbow, keeping me from lifting heavy stuff frequently. I have done some work on the doors, weld grinding and such, so I will post some more sometime soon hopefully.
