You crack me up....

ALL i wanted to do was install my NOS yellow knobs....but, my PO had his hands in there and forgot to install all the parts
How that wheel stayed on is a mystery to me! Since the rotation on the drivers side wants to back off the nut

Tools----Lisle #27400 or 27250
Parts----Spicer locking kit

He didn t install one of the locking nuts, and this caused the ring tang to mess up the threads, a little work with my thread file ( 16tpi) and i was able to install locking nut, btw, the locking ring is designed to be flipped over, so you can install it w/o changing you torque setting on the first locking nut

Thanks to iron canine and dark olive for the advice

Oh wait, so after all that the part with the holes turned out to be a washer and not a nut? Interesting.

Yes, it was seized to the axle stub, by not being held in place with the second locking nut
and looked like it was threaded on.

That s why it takes me a hundred pages

Well, good thing it was seized on there, that's why your wheel didn't come off. You have to concentrate on the positives.

Thank you Sirs....

As far as the wheels go, i wanted something differant. Steelies look great, but everyone that is anybody on the board is running them. So, i went steelies, only on a corvette theme. I had the 4" beauty ring on there but, it covered up too much of my wheel. So, i went with the hot rod beauty rings from wheels vintique, still sets off the wheel just more shadow lines, and i can still pinstripe them

I put bead bags in them, so no weights show

Thanks for looking

Re: PO has me PO'd

It finally happened....hit a wall after 14 years, had no interest in working on my truck....
Solution: spend money on it

So, i bought a used Vintage Air from the parts board ( thanks dan)
Yanked out the heater core and cover, inside box, only cut myself 12 times, blood thinners sure make you bleed alot

Their firewall cover left alot to be desired, so i started making my own fill plates out of 1/8" diamond plate

Re: PO has me PO'd

I hear you on hitting the wall. Sometimes I wonder why I do projects. Years of working and spending money and no playing. Like you, ordering a box of new parts and a weekend away from the garage usually tears the wall down for me!

Yeah well, i hope i don t hit another one, got no one to pick up the pieces, and this build will stall

You did the right thing and got your bills in order, well done Son!

We do builds for the pure joy of building and creating. It s not always about the ride. Alot of times it s about the people you meet and communicate with along that road. I have enuff vehicles to give the thrill of driving....cars motorcycles boats snowmobiles, all provide excitment...but, no one can come into my shop and build....that s why i do it

Re: PO has me PO'd

I hear you. Other than coming onto the forum I don't really have anyone near me to keep me going when I get stalled out.

Thanks for the comment on my finances. It has been brutal, but we are coming out the other side now and never looking back to debt again. Thank Goodness!

Good luck with the blazer and keep thinking about how awesome it is going to be driving that Blazer through the beautiful Pennsylvania mountains.

That s the plan, find a dirt road, hopefully a trout stream will be at the end. Top off, lovely wife at my side and oldies playing on Sirius. What could be better in life

Used Fooses idea on template making, this time went much faster (bought the proper tool for the job)

Now just some lathe time for the blower hole
