Just one question, you put all those gauges in the dash, but not the tach?

i kinda like the look of the tach on dash, and on that blue truck, i have never seen a truck with the grille matched to body color..that i liked, but i love the look! you mind if i ask for a close up of that truck on the tailgate? and what color blue is that? love it!

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

I prefer the tach on the dash in this truck, i was shooting for the race type set up but also the comfort, and i believe when you need to be watching your rpms for the reason that i dont have a rev limiter in my truck its nice, mainly when your running a respectable power street engine you dont want to be looking down to check your revs at 100mph that could mean the wall lol. My new project which is a 81 one ton dually crew cab will have all the gauges in the dash.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

so wat did you use for a rearaxle ?
a stock dually rearaxle a breadtruck axle (little narrower) or did you mounted truckwheels on a single wheel 3/4 ton axle
if its a C2500 frontsuspension youre using you can put the diskbrake/hubcombo from a dually on the front spindles then you can mount trucktires on the front as whell

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

smurf, wow I love the flat black and the wheels. I have to know what tire wheel combo you are running? Looks like 22' in rear and 20's in front? Coys? What tires are you running I'm doing research for my build.

its the stock rear end with the dually conversion kit. it still stands up to pulling a 5th wheel no problem. the truck was originally 6cyl 3 on the tree and was switch to the 350 4spd

also may end up converting the front to 1ton suspension down the road. my dad has a few projects already such as a 1936 ford, 65 ford, 78 jeep cj5, and 1940's willys flat fender jeep so will probably be years lol

i have seen spacers that convert 6 lug to 8 lug and out a bit for the truckwheels but to convert it to 1 ton and truckwheel you only need the bottom (i believe it was) a arm it has a bigger balljoint for the spindle that will hook up to the 1 ton or 3/4 ton spindle
the diskbrake and hub on a 3/4 or a single wheel is two piece the truckstyle is one piece it will take the wheelbearings of any 1 or 3/4 spindle (at least if you get the general production year right they did changed to metric somewhere in there ) , not sure if the springs are heavier , the antirollbar is though
3/4 stuff from a van is the same and might be eazier to find
chucks chevy pages has some of info on
ive allso seen one where they used steel militairy hummer wheels in the front wish looked good as whell and doesnt need the truck style disk/hub setup
