Man, sorry to hear about that Dennis. On a positive note, the truck is coming together nicely. At least with the painter there it will get done faster.

Great Excellent progress Dennis and I am sorry to hear about the divorce, I got you in my prayers and hopefully things go quick & smooth. Keep it up boss and also what air intake system/kit did you use? You can send it in a PM with part # or whatever so you won't clutter up the thread. Thanks !!

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Question.... What year is your 12 bolt from. And did you use the blackbird kit with the wilwood D52 calipers and the stock rotors from the front wheels? Or was it some other combo?
I see where Captainfab has made a bracket for the D52s but it says, "These brackets will bolt onto the truck 12 bolt rear differentials from '64-'82 and the 10 bolt truck differentials from '83-'87." So what brakets out there work with the 12 bolt 5 lug for an 83-87 with the D52 calipers or Wilwood D52 calipers? It doesnt really matter to me what kinda rotors they are.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
I might be wrong...and probably am, but I would suspect that the 12 bolt that you have from an '83-'87 actually is a transplant from an earlier model. I've never seen an '83 up 2wd that came with a 12 bolt, but I admit right now that I may be wrong. Somebody chime in here...

Last year for the 12 bolt from the factory was 1981.

One of my C10's it has a 12 bolt but the frame and body dont have the same vin's and it is just for parts and Im not sure what year all the pieces are from on that one. Im not too knowledgeable on the 12 bolt, but did they ever use them again in any vehicle?

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
12 bolts in trucks were specific to pickups. They are not like a 12 bolt passenger axle. They were never used in anything after 1981. The 10 bolt that replaced it althought smaller in ring gear size has a much larger/stronger pinion.
