Re: 1969 Short Wide

Thanks to board member joey8383 I now have a new headliner. (Thanks again Joey for the sweet hook up!). I forgot to take a picture but, I completely masked the interior off with plastic sheeting to prevent spray adhesive over spray. Thanks Mark (Crash_OK) for helping stab it. It really finishes the interior in my opinion.

Sorry for the crappy cell pics.

Looks good Mike, where did you get the trim from. I bought mine from Classic Parts, it's came in as chromed plastic. Not really a fan of the plastic, just wondering if yours is the same.

Thanks Keith. I bought them from a board member but I believe they came from Classic parts. It was the same brand as my cluster bezel (Counterparts).
These trim pieces are chromed plastic, just like GM made them from 1969-72.
My original pieces have always been plastic.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

It looks great Mike! I'm more than pissed my new headliner from LMC sagged after the second day of being installed. The card board isn't sagging, the material is sagging from the card board. That thing is staying on there though. I'll have to live with it for now.

Thanks Ryan, I sure hope that doesn't happen to this one. But if it does I'm like you it will have to stay. It is stuck big time now, that 3M Super77 is pretty strong.

Yes it is, I put a lot on mine. I didn't want it coming off there.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Thanks for the info Mike, I feel better now, I wasn't aware that the original was Chromed Plastic too. My truck wasn't equipped with it from the factory but I'm adding it anyway, still need to cut the slots.

Good luck with the slots, My cab was equipped with the slots so the install went quick. I only had to open up the slots up front where I replaced the header metal around the inside of the windshield.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

So, I'm blowing the dust off my project, cleaning the shop up and getting ready for an exhaust build and think... Mike built *****in' exhaust, I should scope his out again... Took me back to about page 22 this morning and again Mike, KILLER work on that!! I'll be happy if mine turns out even a tenth as nice. Props on all the custom bits you made and the sani-welding. Outstanding!

Thanks for the props. The exhaust was one of the funnest parts of my build. It sounds great too. I'm sure yours will turn out great.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

First fuel mileage results. I've driven it 571.6 miles so far. I filled up this morning and I averaged 18.75 per gallon. I consider that pretty good considering most of that is hard driven stomping on the pedal every chance I get.
I think the actual highway mileage will be over 20 MPH. I will find out when I take a real road trip...
