Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Drove it to work. half way there i started to smell coolant . not good. i

didnt want to pull over because i was getting so close to work. as soon as i

slowed down enough i could see steam pour out of the engine compartment.

parked it really quick and the hose from the intake to the heater core was

torn.coolant gushed all over the engine and all components. lucky for me i

still had a few extra inches of hose. After work i cut off the torn part and

re- attached it. filled it up with water and was able to get it home.

that was scary when i saw the engine temp rise over 220 degrees

Always an adventure, and the reason I always carry tool, extra parts and extra fluids!

I imagine you probably prefer the photo with the family added, but that rear shot really makes the truck look tough! Very cool indeed.

Thanks Mark, I like that one too. She took that as I was lighting up the tires a little. My son loves to feel the power as much as I do!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Tried to install my repo driver side arm rest on my 72.I cant for the life of me get the screws to start in the armrest .They go into the door easily and look through the armrest holes and they line up perfectly ,take them out and try as I might they just will not start in.What am I doing wrong ? I did manage a few bad words but all it did was made me feel a little better. Will try again tomorrow.

Consider taking the front panel off, putting them on then re set the panel, would it be easier that way?

Pulled out the stove, fridge, sink, and table outof the camper as well as the lihgting and fittings. Put them all on e-bay to offset the cost of storage. cleaned the hubcaps and getting ready to bring the truck home.

Drove to work like I do every day, still get the thumbs up from some drivers. there`s several guys at work that are looking to buy 60-66, seems like its growing more so now than ever, maybe availability, mostly maybe not out of reach price wise but getting noticeably higher...!

Reminds me of a time when my wife and I did our first long distance road trip in the truck. She wanted to drive so I told her to watch the gauges and about 30 min to our destination she said "wow, something smells like maple syrup." And I was like "what the Hell, that is not maple syrup that's engine coolant!" LOL turns out we threw the belt to the water pump. I still think of that day everytime I smell maple syrup.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Back in 1990 I bought a NOS Chevy Beretta stereo from a friend.

For some tunes in the ole '65 I decided to mount the steroe in the console. I bench tested the radio.. sounds pretty good, well good enough for a shop truck.

To support the stereo I fabricated some 16 gauge steel brackets designed to angle the stereo back up under the cup holders.

I still need to fabricated some spacers to go betweeen the brackets and console, then paint everything up.

My kind of modification… I have all of about 30 bucks in the entire deal, including the radio.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

took out the stock bench seat outta of my 61' to put in the 1997 60/40 seat in. Didn't fit like I expected it too. SOOOO I took the orig. bench to a local uhpolsterer and he quoted me a decent price so I am sticking to the orig. bench seat....
