Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Here is Maggie she's a 51 with earlier doors. Been in the family since 1989. She's on her second paint job and second engine since we purchased her. The original 228 had a cracked block when we bought it so she now has a 54 235 with the Corvette head. With the exception of a twelve volt conversion with an alternator it is stock. Rolling on stock 16's with some fifties vintage aftermarket beauty rings. She's not all show girl, but more of a working girl. She gets used to move hay, furniture and engines regularly. I hauled 1260 pounds of Hardi plank siding drops to disposal several years ago with her and barely broke a sweat.

I've been trying but I can't figure it out. I suffer from "lame old dude-itis" apparently.
I can select a bunch of PM's and mark them for deletion but then can't make them delete. Never mind, figured it out. Lol

HO455 - best working truck I've seen in a while. Looks show worthy to me, also!

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks Hampshire. You can barely see part of the chip board box liner I made for her. There are sides that we can put in to protect the rest of the box when shes working. Took my mom to a local charity car show a couple of years back. We parked outside the show and when we were leaving one of the officials came up and told us we had won best truck and asked if we could come back in. We found out in addition to the judging they also had a bunch of cancer kids who got to pick their favorites and we won best truck. So we went back in and met the kids and took some for a ride. It was pretty cool!

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
heres a picture of my old truck im slowly fixing up
only picture i could find doing a image search (im at work) its basically all in pieces now. 1951 chevy 3800 9ft bed, pretty solid except for that passenger side running board and i dont ever see those things come up for sale anywhere just gonna make a ugly weekend driver out of it using 1991 silverado running gear and 70s chevy suspension and brakes. |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Did a rat rod clear coat a friend thought me. Works pretty good for transmission fluid lol made my 57 GMC look pretty good. Then I stripped my 59 down to the frame then mounted a mustang gas tank in the rear and wanted to see if you can see it with the bed on. So far I like it just wish I had a shop!!

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Here is a side shot. Thanks Jim for the kind words. I like your ride as well. I was sick when I seen the post about hitting the deer.
I can't take credit on building this truck. I raced small boats for about 30 years and wanted to do something different. I sold the racing stuff and the search was on. Never had a "cool" car and set out to buy something "cool". Didn't think I would ever get one done if I started from scratch. I have been doing a lot of small stuff to it. I will try and join in on posting a little more. Love reading and looking! 383 stroker with TH350, Ford 9" with 3:56 gears, 79 Grand Prix clip Last edited by Kevin Mac; 04-20-2017 at 09:55 PM. |

Here is my new 1954 Chevy 3800. Just what I need, another project.
I have it turning over nice with the starter, but no fire yet.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks Lower50's, I have had fun with it so far. 400 miles since November. Been making it "mine" doing small things. I don't think they are ever done.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
My pretty much daily driver 51, 3600. Original, not rebuilt 216 (yep, 85hp baby) with a WC T5, .72 5th gear and 4.10 rear gears. Huck brakes refreshed and modern 16" tires now.
Drove it from central Arkansas to Luckenbach Tx about a month ago, 1.300 miles. The trip's excuse was to see the bluebonnets, but fact is the beer and music at Luckenbach was the real reason, just don't tell the wife. Round trip was 1,300 miles and luckly no problems, just a nice enjoyable back road drive. Ron Last edited by moparguy; 05-06-2017 at 03:06 PM. |

May I suggest (Oh no, here it comes!) adding ribbed beauty rings and repop chrome dog dish caps to those rims? Then she'll REALLY be a prom queen. Yeah, a BIG prom queen but a knockout. Think of her as Ashley Graham - not a bad thing at all!
