Yes sir. Backing this longbed out of my driveway into the narrow alley was a 3 minute affair without it.

I ordered a new wire gutter to go on my core support. I very nearly bought a new harness and alternator, until I was advised by Wes (classicheartbeat.com) that I'd also have to put in the new gauges or wait. I'll have to wait on that update.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Rigged up a temp horn button on the dash so I could finally get it inspected. Having hell getting the original button to work. Took it down to the inspection station and man, these trucks get more attention than a hooker in church.

The inspector passed me even though my insurance card was out of date. Pretty much everyone in line behind me came up to talk about the truck and ask what year it was.

Then on the way back, a guy in a giant rock hauler hollered down at me, "I love your truck, MAN!

Iam at that point in my build...question..do i have to split lines for front disc brakes,(one line for each wheel) i know can use the other outlet on port valve, but most trucks i see on forum just use one outlet and split line down on crossmember, just like the way it came from factory..(talking front only) thanks

Removed steering column, old junk aftermarket underdash A/c, ripped dash apart, removed years of added wiring, removed radio, speaker, dash pad, . Good 4 hours of work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Finally back at it! I decided to convert my bed to a wood floor rather than ordering patches for the steel one I have. She was a great daily driver but it's time for her to shine! I ordered all the new cross sills, back panel, wheel housings, and wood kit form Brothers was just gonna keep the bedsides. The passenger side is straight as an arrow on the out side and some surface rust on the inside. The Drivers side needed to be blocked but is in great shape. After cleaning up an area I knew looked suspect i found some pin wholes on the lower left corner. I have now decided to just order new bedsides and have a complete new box.

The box floor has a few small holes that I was gonna just patch but I'm now gonna sell the box complete with tailgate and roll pan with exhaust cut outs. I will be posting on the parts for sale page shortly. Cant wait to finish her up!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I took 6 bolts and nuts out of the heater core cover but it won't budge...

I also removed the front bumper. Now that was a chore but not really bad. I sprayed a type of breakfree (ZEP 45) on each bolt/nut for months, whenever I happened to go into my garage. Each came off pretty easily with my Proto breaker bar and ratchet.

I have its hardware in an Evaporust soak...

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Had my bodyman/painter wet sand cut and buff the front and rear fenders, hood, doors, and bed. Then got the doors and front fenders hung in place. Old Homer is finally coming back together.

I worked REALLY hard today. I installed my new "lighted" LMC cigarette lighter. Because we all know how important it is to be able to get your lighter back in the hole at night after lighting your Pall Mall.

Dropped the TH700R4 transmission and resealed it, including pump o-ring and gasket. Got it mounted back it the truck waiting for a new TC lock up solenoid. Need to rewire the solenoid so it functions properly. Compared to my BMW's, R&R'ing the trans in the truck was a walk in the park.

Nothing too big, but I've had these hubcaps waiting to go on this truck for about a week and finally got around to putting them on.

Installed the new headers....the only headers that would fit. Like they say - third times a charm. angled plug center bolt heads, standard transmission and original starter are hard to maneuver around.

put a column mounted tach in today and went for a ride wow pumping some rpms at 65 its 3 grand 55 is 2500 I haven't driven a non overdrive since the 80s think im gonna have to pull the diff cover and see what I got in there . I realize 1:1 is going to be higher rpm but being its a 6 single barrel for now at least , id rather have the gas mileage than the torque

Sounds like a 3:73 gear set. That's what rpms mine runs at those speeds.

Screwed up my timing by doing it by ear without a clue what the timing was set at to begin with(still runs down the road but falls flat if you get in it. new owner of this truck and after much thought I'm starting to think the quadrajet that was put on it could have been off of a 350(283 ci in truck). live and learn then start @ TDC and use a timing light with a carb rebuild.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I ran electrolytic rust removal (ERR) for about 6 hours on my canister bracket. Most of the hard-to-reach paint came off along with all of the surface rust so I'm happy. I have it in Evaporust soak now.

I coated my remaining core support-to-fender bracket with NAPA Rust Treatment.

I also took my core support back home....it was taking up too much room in my parents' garage. It's fully painted now though so it was time.

just seeing the pic I was thinking you had a shorted out one and it was glowing from it. Guess it's best to read the info first.
