I also drove my truck for the first time. And fortunately didn't hit anything. Almost ready for road duty.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I went out to wake up the old girl from her winter slumber and she pissed on me One of the freeze plugs (the one behind the dipstick and starter on the 305) rusted a 1/8 inch hole in it.... Tomorrow I get to try to get to the lil bugger w/o too much knucke skinning

Think im going to have to change them all pretty soon.... when one rusts thrue the rest are prolly not too far behind

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I ordered a new brake booster and master cyl, can,t afford disc brakes yet so a booster and I,ll split the system will have to do. Shipping stuff from your side of the planet to here is getting ridiculously expensive but shopping locally is even worse

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finally getting a chance to work on the truck again.

Stripped the pod hood down to bare metal, it was so smooth when I started, because there was 1/4" of bondo on it in places. It's a little rougher than I thought it would be- but it only cost me 30 bucks and I'm building a "ratty" truck anyway so it doesn't bug me.
It now weighs about 1/2 as much and it was funny hearing the dents pop out by themselves as I ground the filler away.

Used those 4" fibreglass paint stripping wheels from harbor freight- really chewed through the bondo.

Burned a 2" hole in my brand new carpet trying to get it to lay flat. I'm a danger to myself and others with a heat gun, I guess.

Thursday night I put the door weatherstripping on the cab, layed the carpet, and installed new sillplates.
Friday night I installed new divider felt and window channel in one door, door two tonight if I find time.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Went to the junkyard in the rain, Got a decent hood, a seat that needs to be reupholstered, a dash cluster with gauges, a chrome front bumper, a floor shift steering column, a low trans hump cover, 2 horn buttons, a chrome wiper arm, a left front fender, found some brand new parts in a suburban, a full rocker panel, 2 rocker panel back covers, and left front and a right front floor panel patches, The yard operator let me drive my truck into the yard so I wouldn't have to lug tools or parts, I won't tell you how much I paid for all this stuff cause it will just piss you off!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Welded in the driver's side rocker panel and patched the driver's side floorboard. Scuffed and epoxy primed the entire floorboard and outside of the drivers door.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well let me tell ya !! first I installed the ductwork for the heater I had a spare one and the original was broke (had to clean it out , mice you know ) ..installed a temp gauge .. put a gauge cluster in .. I pulled the other one to hook up the speedo cable and could hear something rolling around in it so I took it a part and found the speedometer needle had broke .. so behind the garage I just happen to have a cab (saved for a crew cab project ) and of the few things left in it was the gauge cluster .. The cable was routed wrong so I rerouted it (helps to have another truck that has not been butchered, that would be truck # 1) .. Then I was going to tackle the front fender and just do a patch panel , but it was just too bad up front . so I robbed the new one I had for truck #1 ,again...and the bolts .....I geased the front end , found the bolt that tightens the rag joint to the steering box was never tightened, and would not start into the threads.... took it for a ride , then changed the carb , and it still runs crappy.. so if it is in the 60's again like it was today I tackle the ignition...oh also put the seat from truck #1 in it , much better...........

What happened to what did you do to your truck today?

I think somebody must have revamped this forum. So I'll post what I did today, I got my third brake lite hooked up and working. Not quite as hard as I thought it was going to be my neighbor is a electrician and I used his fish tape to pull the wires through the cab in the light hole. I used a Yukon 3rd light I bought on ebay. I hooked in to the brake light switch on top of the brake pedal. Hey it works and I'm extra safe now, here's a pic ....Vernski

Hey Vernski,

Looking good! Reminds me of a song... "Up on the roof"...

You might want to add yous to this thread: Third Brake Light Thread

A few of us have used that same set-up, except we mounted them under the lip. Big Fenders turned us on to this in the aforementioned thread.
