Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Part II

So I received the screws & gaskets from the nice folks at Classic Chevy... (I'm not the kind of jerk to call and snivel about slight oversights)...but truth-be-known, I really suck at bodywork, and besides, I ended up drinking breakfast, so I'm not about to try patching up the remnants left on the doors from the previous mirrors, nor am I stupid enough to drive this classic Chevy on the public roads in my current condition...

This really is a great forum for enthusiasts of these terrific trucks!

I get back to you with what I hope will be a job I'm satisfied with.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Part II

So breakfast turned into leftovers for lunch and I gathered the courage to use JB-Weld to fill in the screw holes.

Thought that the mirror base perimeter marks were actually cut through the paint, so I sanded the whole area.

...I was wrong.

Think I'll pick this up again tomorrow and go from there.

BTW, when I first bought this truck, the bed was nothing more than some slivers of wood still attached to some severely rusted and chewed up carbon steel bed strips.

So rather than spend some $$$ on a bed wood kit, I cut a 3/4" sheet of marine plywood to fit and added some polished strips on the top.

Turned out plenty strong and eliminated the need for those metal cross supports, which made a seriously light rear end even lighter...

...ZOOM!

Wonder what's for dinner.

My 72 C20 and it's new bullet before their marriage. The powder coating of the intake didn't come out right but until I determine if it will work on the street in winter I'm not going to change it. The 383 should be somewhere around 400hp.

Great looking truck!
Thanks!

From what I can tell, they swapped out the v8 with a 68 250 and changed the front fenders, grill etc with a 68. It could have been in a wreck. The kid I got the truck from had it for about 8 months, and he really didn't know what he had. He was trying to tell me that it had fuel injection and a glass back exhaust... I dont think he appreciated the look on my face when he told me that. He had the fuel filter installed backwards, the wrong plug wires, ignition switch was just tied to the dash and few other weird things.

Currently am trying to figure out an electrical issue, then a shifting issue, but other than that, she runs pretty good.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Part II

Hey Wade and SHRTBOX70, what year/month/Magazine was the feature in? I've had pics of this truck that I found online saved to my computer for a long time. Didn't know who it belonged to and would like to see more info on it and I couldn't find a build thread.

Thanks

It's always good to save an old car or truck, 'cause they ain't makin' them any more. Looks very nice.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Part II

I found some old photos of my dads 1970 and my 71. The green 70 was a Custom 10. The pictures of that truck was taken around 1984 and the pictures of my Cheyenne Super was taken around 1988.

My father let me paint it black. Here's the front clip. I had no idea what I was doing...haha.

I took this picture from the top of a fire-tower.

My mother and father posing in front of my Cheyenne.

This is not me in the picture. It was a co-worker.

This was taken July 2014, soon after I bought it back from the person I sold it to in 1989...
