Love the new parts stockpile man!
Those old pics are awesome. You should get them all framed up! That's some cool vehicle history not many people have! |

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
So far it has cost him a wife! On a serious note, being in almost the same place recently I feel for ya man. It was really hard on me and I didnt know if I was going to make it through it. I dont know your situation, but we are working our stuff out and things are getting better. If your interested I'll tell ya whats working for us if you guys want to work things out. Send me a PM if you want so I dont clutter up your thread. One of the best pieces of advice I got was to try with 110% effort for 1 more year even thought we both thought we were done and there was nothing left worth saving. It has made a huge difference and though we are still seperated, divorce is no longer an option that either of us wants. On the cost thing, I used to keep all recipts for parts and work done on my vehicles. I added them up one day and was sick to my stomach, so now they all go in the trash or shredder.

Easy for me to say because I'm not the one writing the checks, but you just can't put a price on the sentimental value. Every penny spent will be worth it and then some! Keep at it man!!!!

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
You just can't go into these kinds of builds looking at it as an investment or something that you're gonna recoup your full investment from... You have to build it to what you want so that the money spent pays you back in happiness over the long haul & not build it to appease other people.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
The truck is really getting close now Dennis, you have made great progress. I have saved every picture from this build on my computer for reference. haha I had a couple questions though. For power steering, it looks like you capped off the one line, is that correct, and how did you do your ps lines? Also where do you get the stainless bolts that your using. Thanks

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Sorry to hear you hurt your back. I have done it twice now. Two herniated discs the first time and a severe whiplash injury six years later that aggravated the first injury that I though was healed. I wish you the best in your recovery and with getting the bed back from the painter in a timely manner.
