Re: Crusty Rusty Leaky Squeaky 67 Step
Thanks everyone! Now we can start hitting the cruise-ins for real. B-I-L Rick told me not to sweat the horsepower ...there's more than enough to haul a load of gravel.

That sounds about right. It is just a work truck after all.

Good to hear that you've got a handle on things with CRLS, Vic... As for me, I'm staying old-school... Carburetor!... Vacuum Advance!... Points & Condenser!

Re: Crusty Rusty Leaky Squeaky 67 Step
Been awhile since I last posted, so I thought I'd catch up a bit...
Kathy and I went on a 4800 mile road trip the first of August. Her family got together in Seabeck, WA for a memorial picnic for her sister. On the way there, we stayed in Deadwood, SD a few days ahead of the big bike rally in Sturgis. Lotsa scoots on the road plus Main Street was packed with them. On the way home, we went down I-5 and spent a night in Corning, CA right between the two big fires. When we went out to the car the next morning, it was covered with a light dusting of ash. Stopped by to see Jason7121 in Visalia and got to see his ride in person. It's even nicer than the photos! We had a nice dinner at a Mexican place with him and his wife and talked a lot of truck. Headed out the next day down thru Palm Desert, CA then back east to home. While we were out west, I got the call that my Pops had passed, so when we got home, there was a lot of stuff to attend to as you can imagine. It's getting back to normal, though, and we've been able to hit a couple of cruise in's recently. We were in Weston, MO Saturday night and a street dance broke out right in front of Crusty. Weather was a little hot, but we mostly sat in the shade which made it tolerable. On the drive to Weston, the painted steering wheel made my palms sweat so much I decided to order a leather wrapped one from Grant. Should be in on Wednesday, so I'll post a shot of it after it's installed.

Man, so sorry to hear about your pops. Keep the faith as others have said. Time heals.
On a different note, if you had hit Deadwood a few weeks later you'd have been able to see Kool Deadwood Nights, where some 700+ classics fill the streets of Deadwood. C10s are gaining in numbers each year.

Re: Crusty Rusty Leaky Squeaky 67 Step
Many thanks to everyone for your condolences, I appreciate it very much!
Kathy has me somewhat occupied gearing up for some house remodeling. I shook loose long enough to get the new steering wheel installed. The leather wrap feels nice to the touch and should be more comfortable when driving. Some before and after shots below. When we were at the LMC Truck Show back in May, I bought a set of billet door handles for CRLS. The passenger side in particular has been tough to operate with the cheap aftermarket handle I originally installed. I've been avoiding installing the new ones because I really should take the truck to the upholstery shop to remove the door panels. I'd hate to screw them up after the good job they did. Plus I'd rather not pay to have them built again. Anyway, that's my next little project so I'll post up when there's something to show.

I probably haven't said it enough, but I really appreciate the support and help I've gotten from every one of you on the forum. You've been a valuable resource for me on both my truck builds and I'd still be banging my head against the wall if it weren't for your suggestions and shared experience. We won awards at this year's show for 1st in class and Best of Show, but it wouldn't have been possible without all the help. Thanks to all of you! Vic
