Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Tested my AM radio. Hasn't' be turned on in over 25 years. Works perfectly!

Years ago A coworker at fiber sunk his truck in the Columbia river while launching his boat. A diver was required to attach a line so they could drag it out from 50 feet of water. He got it all running again. But the radio didn't work. A month later the radio started working again. I guess they are tough!

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Installed a Borgeson steering box. My original type Saginaw box was not worn out, but started leaking slightly shortly after completing the LS swap.

Let me tell you, the Borgeson 3 turns lock to lock box is a major improvement. The box requires a square body rag joint (steering coupler).

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Installed new passenger side window. All the advice / videos here were a great help providing a birds-view. I'm really glad to have had that.

The problem we had is the truck is a full on custom with aftermarket Power windows that had its own set of original installation problems we had to deal with. One of the things you have to deal with when buying someone else's build. Which, I don't have a problem with...you just have to accept to go with the flow.

Next up is to pull the panel on the driver's side window and fix up that install...before that glass breaks :0

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Finally getting this interior to look like something. Installed my rebuilt instrument cluster, dash pad, AM radio and new steering wheel. It is always something when you make changes. Now I need to figure out why the cluster lights aren't working and try to figure out how to get the horn contact button to work.

Erik, I'm guessing those 3 rotary dials can't be removed from that panel?

I have only done the interior part of the install and heater hoses. I would say it was about 5 or 6 hours. I took my time to line it all up and clean up some under the dash so I might have been able to knock it out faster.

This was a optional control vintage air offers. The kit comes with what you need if you want to keep the stock controls. I did the same thing in my suburban. It free's up a ton of room under the dash and makes running hoses and wires much cleaner.

Nice truck, that's a good day when you finally get to take it out for a drive after all that time. Really looks good.

Replaced my in cab fuel tank due to previous damage and poor repair (not by me) that started leaking. Also, wrapped the tank in sound deadener to make the fuel pump quiet...it worked.

Looks great, I'm just finishing up doing mine also. I wish I had gotten the 3 buttons for the controls now. Did you happen to install your glove box yet, kinda scares me to think about pushing it in there, afraid it might break?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I found the water leak in fire wall cowling. Had to use a Greenlee hole cutter (4in. hole) in upper cowl for access. Cleaned, treated rust and used 3M 8300 seam sealer to bridge the leak. The old seam sealer was a foam type material. No leaks now..

glove box went in okay. it has some cuts in it to let you fold the top in a bit. overall it was not too bad. I have seen some people not put the side in. I decide to place it in just like the old cardboard one was. Its not too bad.

I have one of those in the box to be put on in the Spring and bought their rag joint too. I also bought their Power Steering pump and hoses.. I was hoping someone would post their experience with the Borgeson box.

Made a new line up.
Added a support bracket.
Ran out of black fittings
But it's not gonna flood anymore. 5psi running creeps to 7 after you turn it off.
About over carburetors altogether.

Those hard lines running all the way to the tank look very clean.

Copper lines, they are easy to bend and flare, had to make the differential brake lines. Differential is 2-1/2” narrower each side.
