Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Finally moved the old coffee table out of the garage and over to my place by the river.

The thing in the box on the right is a gargoyle. He's going on the patio tomorrow.

Put the ugly bench in back today. My gargoyle seems to like it.

And the Blackjack table. Still a work in progress. That sucker is heavy.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

cleaning up a few minor things on the kid's 'bird
came home the other day and i could feel the heat pouring off the fr dr brake.
orig 31 yr old caliper seized up. new calipers, pads and rotors, with a run back to the parts store for a defective new caliper...

and like Boogs ordeal, 3rd times a charm for some hatch struts. no one local had hatch struts for a 31 yr old car so went online. first set advertised for 82-92 camaro/firebird hatch struts. got my money back, but they wanted me to eat the shipping and a 15% restock fee, they said i ordered the wrong ones. i sent them a screenshot of the ad stating for the hatch, what i got was a set for the hood. so they refunded my money for the struts, but not the shipping, but told me i could "dispose" of the old struts....naw, for $14 i got a spare set of struts if the hood ones ever fail. here's what they sent me...seems to be a little short

second attempt ordered some from amazon. they took my money and made me wait 2 weeks, then out of the blue emailed me saying they were refunding my money (?) which they did.
3rd attempt at getting struts was finally a success. prob one of the better things we done to the 'bird, that friggin' hatch is HEAVY!
no more broom handle...

I get a lot of comments on that table. I got it for $100 and it's easy to move around.

I saw that cowhide on the couch, and at first I thought that your GSD had gutted the couch...again. Then I realized that it was just a throw.

My GSD has mellowed out a lot. Now I have to watch the Corgi. She's still got some puppy in her and she's very strong for a small dog. She chases my GSD around. He runs and hides from her. She is one little mean motor scooter.

Perfect day to get firewood … NOT.. You know it’s hot when the bar oil comes out of the jug like water. Have to get this pile out of the way as the fill keeps coming. I felled 4 fairly large oaks but couldn’t pull them out so they got buried . But there is so much wood at this location I’ll be cutting for years .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

This was Saturday, too tired to make a post. My
7 hour trip turned into a 12 hour trip + cost me
an extra $552 I had not planned on spending...

*Purchased my trailer Labor Day 2013, guess it
was time to replace a set of tires. No Cracks
on any of them, full thread, and stored indoors.

OUCH! That scares me. I have to put tires on 2 dually's and a Corvette.

16 tires in all. (sigh) That's going to leave a mark.

Nothing wrong with that tire that a little duct tape and Fix A Flat wont solve.

I figure I've got another 5000 miles on mine.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

My recliner has (3) stepper motors. Head, lumbar and feet. The motor for the feet started working intermittently. More mittently than inter. So, I broke out my handy dandy meter and started checking the rocker switch and all the wires that I could access. Everything checked out fine.

So, I throw caution to the wind and decide to start tearing stuff up. The motor and worm gear / rail system are integrated. Just unplug the wire harness and pull to lock pins and it's on the floor. Double checked the wires and still good contact.

I decided "What the hell, it's no good as it is I'll tear the little motor down and see what there is to see". Well, sure 'nuff one of the wires inside the motor had been making contact with the worm gear on the shaft. The wire was too damned short to do anything with, so I pulled part #s and went on a Google Treasure Hunt.

Not only did I find a gazillion gizmos specifically for chairs, couches, beds etc. I ultimately found the exact system I needed...complete with motor, wiring harness and worm gear rail system. All for a smooth $ 110.00 bill. Bought it through...wait for it...Amazon dot com.

15 minutes after opening the box my chair, and me, was back in business.

Who knew?

The white mounting bracket you see travels up and down the rail via the worm drive.

That blowed up real bad! I saw the blower sneeze off a TF dragster in '77; that thing must have gone 100 feet in the air! Nobody was hurt, though, fortunately. Amazingly enough, the crew overhauled that engine and made it back to the track for another run.

Hoping for a good recovery!

Hey Larry, thanks . The story goes that the #2 cylinder hydrauliced and when they spun the engine over to build oil pressure, BOOM!!! The blower didn't blow off, that was removed later. The mag was grounded too. Sad all around. It was a nitro fuel altered car.

Raining here today, (finally) so I decided to bake some Chocolate Waffle Cookies. This was my moms recipe and waffle iron and she has been gone for close to 20 years. A good way to remember her....

Wife and I also baked a Custard Pie. She makes the crust and I make the filling. Anyone else remember their mom or Grandma baking the left over crust with sugar and cinnamon on it? Yummy!
