Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Good eye Jeff. That was everyone who ever did anything to help me build that truck. A lot of the work was done over a long week end when a bunch of my MetalMeet buddies came in for a truck build. They metal finished the fenders and cab from no rust parts. That was an awesome good time. When we sold the truck I did keep the tailgate!

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Doug when you mentioned MetalMeet I remember the build. I've had some great times at meets out here in the west, but a trip to Oblong is on my bucket list.

Doug, I hope you can make it! I've met so many good folks through the events and even managed to learn some too. All my good friends and I had a great time on that build.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Here's some pix's of my find this March 2015 / 1951 Chervrolet 3800, the last time this old girl was licensed 1990 and has been parked out byhind a farmers shop. I'm the 3rd owner, first owner was a Union 76 fuel supplier and the second owner was a local farmer. I cleaned all the fuel lines, changed oil, changed coolant, put new battery in, primed the carb, hit the foot start, 3 cranks later the old girl fired off! Oil pressure came up, H2O temp came up to normal. Very clean truck, one dent in front finder, a little rust in floor board.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks A/D,
Yes, I found it and a lot of the parts and accessories on EBay. As I said before I am lacking in paint and body skills so I try to buy projects that don't require any. The paint job is what attracted me to the truck. It was done by an artist in California. I don't know his name. For a faux patina paint job it is very well done. There is a lot of faux rust on it but no actual rust anywhere. I have had many people ask me if it was actually an Indy track service vehicle. When I got it the drive train was completely stock and original. I wanted to make it look like it had been sitting in a warehouse or barn since the mid 60's. That's why it has a mechanical fan, York piston A/C compressor (EBay), vintage A/C evaporator (EBay), vintage aircraft gauges (EBay), vintage heater(EBay), Gear Vendors O/D (EBay), the Johnny Parsons water can (EBay), etc. Really the only thing that gives it away is the EFI sensors on the engine (O2,knock, and TPS) and the cruise control switch on the turn signal lever. Most people never notice. It has been a very fun and rewarding project so far. Especially since I have been able to drive it for the most part since day one. Thanks again for the kind words.

SO I have always wondered.... What is with the yellow headlights? I have seen them on other classics and always wondered what they were for.

Yellow lights work the best in the fog, can run a single hi/low beam and a fog for 4 lights, great idea really..

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks! It's got a Camaro front end , the pic has leafs but I am in the process of putting a 4 link on it. It's actually down to bare frame. I took the cab off to finish welding the clip in. I would start a build thread but my progress is so slow that people would get bored and forget about it.

Does "had" count? This was my first old vehicle, about 20 years ago. It was a 1948 5-window. I called it The Angry Bumblebee. It was a rolling wreck. LOL
