Re: 1969 Short Wide
Hey Mike. Love your truck, especially the woodgrain trim & color. Took me two days to read your build. I have a question about the AC. I know you used the factory compressor with Vintage Air. I've read that 2003 and older trucks have a non variable compressor that is supposed to work better with VA. Do you have this style and are you happy with the performance. It gets awful hot and humid here in Houston. I'd prefer to keep the stock accessory drive and not have to buy a Sanden.

The compressor is the stock non variable style. The AC works great. I used it today and it got nice and cold in the cab on high setting. I'm really happy with the vintage air setup with the stock compressor. |

See how awesome this forum is. Now I know not to waste my money on expensive brackets, pulleys or compressors I don't need. Thanks.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Here's a crappy phone pic of the K10 twin that's down the road from me Mike. Looks like he tweaked the bumper pulling it out of the barn. I haven't seen him outside yet but when I do I'll swing in and get the details and some better pics. I think of your bad ride every time I see it. They sure make a pair

Good to see that things are going well. Have you been able to start the shop yet? I am hoping we are entering a stretch of good weather for building.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Awesome weather for a cruise this weekend. It's always cool meeting new people that like these old trucks. It seems every time I stop at a gas station, I get to share about my truck. Of course I never get tired of it.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Hey been catching up on some old builds that I followed when I was active on mine. Man how well I enjoyed catching up reading yours. The truck turned out great and the ride height is perfect. That is the height I eventually what to get mine/son's to.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Thanks! I have enjoyed driving it for the last year. It's a blast. The suspension is 3" lower up front with lower height tires and 5" lowering springs in the rear. It rides really good but I do plan on upgrading my shocks and more importantly my brakes. None the less, I love driving it and look for reasons to take it out. |
